Job description

Title: Mainframe Production Support

Location: Chandler, AZ (preferred) | Des Moines, IA (secondary)

Duration: 12+ Months

W2 Contract

Shift Schedule: Flexible 8-hour shift within 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM PST

Job Description:

  • Position will be working in the Mainframe platform support group.
  • Candidate must have Mainframe application support experience.
  • Client is seeking three identical Senior Specialty Systems Operations Engineers to join a Mainframe Production Support team supporting critical applications in a highly specialized, non-standard environment.
  • This role requires strong hands-on mainframe application support experience and the ability to work in a follow-the-sun model alongside offshore team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Level 2/3 production support for Automated Credit, Rewards, and Credit Card Hub applications
  • Monitor production systems and ensure system stability and uptime
  • Analyze and troubleshoot failed mainframe jobs (JCL)
  • Perform root cause analysis and support ad hoc job executions
  • Partner with Production Control to restart and recover failed jobs
  • Respond to business user requests and application team needs
  • Maintain and update incident tracking (ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence)
  • Monitor and respond to application group mailboxes
  • Document incidents, resolutions, and create JIRA stories for follow-up

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience in Mainframe Production Support (application support required)

Technologies/tools:

  • JCL, COBOL, CICS, DB2, CA7, IDCAMS, Mainview
  • File tools: File Manager, File Analyzer, EZTRIEV
  • Experience with ticketing and documentation tools (ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence or similar)
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, production-critical environment

  • Team is primarily based in Chandler, AZ (preferred location)
  • Candidates should be adaptable, proactive, and comfortable in a specialized/mainframe-heavy environment
  • This is not a typical platform support role requires a niche skillset

In this contingent resource assignment, candidates may:

  • Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Systems Operations Engineering.
  • Review and analyze complex multi-faceted, larger scale or longer-term Systems Operations Engineering challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors.
  • Contribute to the resolution of complex and multi-faceted situations requiring solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that meet deliverables. Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel.

Note:

  • Location: Chandler, AZ (preferred) | Des Moines, IA (secondary)
  • Schedule: Flexible 8-hour shift within 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM PST
  • Interview Process: 1 round (MS Teams, panel of 3, ~1 hour)

Team Structure and Coverage

  • Total team: 3 US + 7 India resources (6 US with these hires)
  • India team provides overnight coverage, handing off every 12 hours
  • US team supports daytime production operations (6.00 AM to 6.00 PM PST)
  • Daily coordination with offshore counterparts is required
  • Standard 8-hour shift, flexible on start times
