Job description

Job Summary:

The Data Center Technician II / Production Services Analyst II is responsible for monitoring, supporting, and maintaining mainframe and distributed production environments, ensuring successful execution of batch cycles and assisting with issue resolution.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor and manage batch processing cycles across multiple LPARs and distributed platforms using automated scheduling tools.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve batch job failures (abends) in a timely manner, escalating issues to appropriate support teams as needed.
• Monitor mainframe production environments for abnormal system messages, performance issues, and operational disruptions.
• Support daily distributed processing activities through scheduling interfaces and ensure successful job execution.
• Create, update, document, and resolve incident tickets with accurate and detailed information in accordance with established procedures.
• Assist application development and support teams by processing operational requests and assigning Fire IDs/access as required.
• Validate that production jobs and batch cycles are correctly scheduled, loaded, and executed.
• Verify batch cycle dates and ensure production schedules are accurate and communicated to stakeholders.
• Maintain and update operational procedures, runbooks, and departmental documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Some experience supporting mainframe and/or distributed production environments.
• Basic knowledge of batch processing, job scheduling, and production support operations.
• Familiarity with incident management and ticketing systems.
• Exposure to mainframe operating environments, multiple LPARs, and automated scheduling tools is preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize workload and respond effectively in a production environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to following established procedures.
Preferred:
• Exposure to JCL (Job Control Language).
• Experience with enterprise scheduling tools such as Control-M, CA-7, AutoSys, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and incident management practices.
• Prior internship, academic, military, or professional experience in a data center, operations support, or production services environment.
