Job description

Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Summary:
The Machine Operator has the responsibility for achieving full production potential, with 100% mail count integrity, at their machine for each shift. The operator works under established operating procedures and under a prescribed set of jobs. As a member of the production team, the operator must be able to communicate effectively with others regarding production problems relating to mailing material and equipment. The operator works under supervision of a Shift Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
  • Operate mail production machinery to hit daily output goals and maintain operator efficiency goal at all times when running machine.
  • Able to clear machines jams and make minor machine adjustments as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and identify malfunction in machine performance.
  • Possess a working knowledge of methods and techniques of machinery setup.
  • Monitor equipment to assure maximum uptime.
  • Perform quality checks on all output at work station.
  • Maintain machine operator work logs.
  • Maintain stock at work station.
  • Keep work area neat, clean and organized.
  • Work cooperatively with other operators and supervisors to achieve maximum production capabilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
  • One year operating light production equipment.
  • One to two years working in a mail production environment.
  • Knowledge and aptitude for operating computerized mail equipment.
  • Specific, specialized, former manufacturer provided equipment training.
Supervision: N/A
Certifications: N/A
Language Skills: Ability to communicate with all team members on the production floor each shift. Read job orders in order to complete prescribed jobs and write job related notes during each work shift.
