Job description

Overview

Category: Product Management

Location: Mountain View, California; Atlanta, Georgia; New York, New York

Job ID: TBD

Company Overview

Intuit is the global financial technology platform that powers prosperity for the people and communities we serve. With approximately 100 million customers worldwide using products such as TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to prosper. We never stop working to find new, innovative ways to make that possible.

Job Overview

Come join Mailchimp’s Platform & API team as a Principal Product Manager, where you will define and lead the strategy for AI-powered platform capabilities, public APIs, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) experiences that enable our third-party (3P) developer ecosystem to create differentiated customer value.

In this role you will own the vision, roadmap, and execution of API externalization, developer experience, and agentic access. You will treat APIs, the developer portal, and MCP as one product system: APIs are the ingredients, the portal is the supermarket, and MCP is the cookbook, recipes an AI agent uses to turn those ingredients into customer outcomes. You will work at the intersection of AI, developer platforms, and partner integrations to grow the number of high-quality apps on Mailchimp, make Mailchimp recommendable to agents on day one, and give domain teams a federated path to ship versioned, schema-stable APIs (and MCP tools) as the default.

You will also partner with the Partnerships team, partner engineers, and Go-to-Market to land high-value third-party app integrations. That means identifying the data objects and events that matter to customers, getting them into Mailchimp in a usable form, and helping customers activate that data — to generate leads, convert, and nurture, through campaigns, journeys, segments, and automations.

We are looking for a product leader with deep experience building scalable APIs, developer platforms, and AI-powered or agentic experiences. The ideal candidate brings strong technical fluency, customer empathy, and execution excellence, plus a proven track record of delivering platform solutions at scale with measurable business impact. Experience building for third-party ecosystems and subject-matter expertise in APIs, OAuth, and MCP is essential.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead a bold, multi-year vision and strategy for Mailchimp’s public API platform, developer portal, and official MCP server as first-class surfaces for human developers and AI agents.

  • Own the four pillars of the developer-ecosystem strategy: Federated API Platform (supply), Best-in-Class Developer Experience (portal, SDKs, CLI, sandbox, MCP), Third-Party App Lifecycle Management (publish, discover, operate), and Trust & Governance (scopes, versioning, quality bar, key lifecycle).

  • Identify the right partner data objects and events (for example contacts, orders, bookings, reviews, loyalty, payments, and product catalog) and define how they map into Mailchimp audience, events, and activation surfaces so customers can generate leads, convert, and nurture.

  • Provide product thought leadership by identifying partner and developer needs through VOC, support-volume analysis, ecosystem feedback, competitive teardown, and agent-era research (how ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and similar tools discover and recommend Mailchimp).

  • Translate vision into a sequenced execution roadmap with measurable outcomes aligned to Mailchimp FY27 priorities — including AI-First Platform KRs for agent-callable interfaces, context available to agents, and intent-to-execution.

  • Lead the developer-portal modernization (Fern / Keystone): interactive docs, nine auto-generated SDKs, developer CLI, official MCP server generated from the same OpenAPI spec, llms.txt and agent manifests on standard paths, versioned documentation, and platform status.

  • Establish MCP as a governed product, not a sidecar: definition of tools (the cookbook), serving runtime, OAuth scopes including a dedicated MCP scope, read-only defaults, auditability, certification, and a clear ownership model versus domain MCP tools.

  • Leverage AI to enable personalized, proactive, contextually relevant developer and agent experiences — from docs MCP that agents can query for every endpoint, to CLI and codegen that remove time-to-first-call friction.

  • Influence senior executive stakeholders and help evolve the operating model so domain teams (Analytics, Automation, Segmentation, Audiences, Transactional) can ship API and MCP parity without a centralized bottleneck.

  • Collaborate across Design, Engineering, AI/ML, Support, Partnerships, Security, Privacy, and Go-to-Market to deliver scalable, high-quality platform experiences and route cross-org work rather than absorbing it silently.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of product management experience with a track record of building platforms and APIs at scale.

  • Deep understanding of AI technologies (agentic systems, LLMs, MCP, ML platforms) and API / developer-platform architectures (REST/OpenAPI, OAuth 2.0, scopes, rate limiting, webhooks, versioning, sandboxes, SDK/CLI generation).

  • Hands-on experience defining and shipping MCP servers or equivalent agent-callable interfaces — or a clear point of view and proven adjacent work (docs-as-code, llms.txt, agent tool catalogs, CLI-for-agents) that you can apply immediately.

  • Strong track record of delivering platform capabilities for external developers or partner ecosystems, including marketplace or certification programs.

  • Experience partnering with Partnerships, Engineering, and Go-to-Market to ship third-party integrations, including selecting and mapping the data objects and events customers need to activate marketing outcomes (leads, conversion, nurturing).

  • Strong architecture and systems thinking; able to partner credibly with senior engineering on federation, policy services, and safe evolution of a large installed base (non-expiring keys, breaking-change management).

  • Proven success driving cross-org initiatives and aligning multiple product teams toward shared outcomes (surface parity, Definition of Done, conformance bars).

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; able to translate highly technical platform work into customer, developer, and business implications.

  • Very comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity across complex stakeholder environments (Product, Engineering, Support, Security, Privacy, GTM, and vendor partners).

  • Experience with AI-driven platforms, partner ecosystems, or API platforms is a strong plus. Martech, ecommerce, or communications-API domain experience is a plus.
