Overview

This role is responsible for managing bankruptcy-related intake, supporting policy administration, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements. The ideal candidate will work closely with Underwriting, Claims, and Collections teams to protect company interests while maintaining accurate policy handling during bankruptcy proceedings.

Responsibilities

Summary: This role is responsible for managing bankruptcy-related intake, supporting policy administration, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements. The ideal candidate will work closely with Underwriting, Claims, and Collections teams to protect company interests while maintaining accurate policy handling during bankruptcy proceedings.

Responsibilities:

New Matter Intake and Mail Processing

Review and process incoming bankruptcy notices and new matters

Handle, sort, and distribute physical mail related to insured accounts

Ensure timely and accurate intake of bankruptcy filings impacting policies

Policy and File Management

Establish and organize new case files, including electronic folders and subfolders

Maintain and update internal tracking systems for bankruptcy cases

Identify and document all affected insurance policies

Cross-functional Communication

Notify various internal teams of bankruptcy filings

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure proper handling of impacted policies

Maintain accurate and organized records of all correspondence, including email documentation

Bankruptcy & Policy Administration

Place impacted policies on "Do Not Cancel" status in accordance with bankruptcy regulations

Coordinate suspension of collection activities on affected accounts

Perform data entry and updates within internal systems

Assist with document production, reports and formal correspondence

Documentation & Compliance

Prepare case memoranda summarizing bankruptcy matters and policy impact

Ensure all activities comply with insurance regulations and company policies

Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive policyholder information

The expected salary range for this role is $19.00-$25/hr

Required:

Two to four years of previous law firm or in-house legal department experience

Experience in insurance operations, policy administration, or accounts receivable preferred

Knowledge of bankruptcy processes as they relate to insurance policies is a plus

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and intermediateย Excel Skillsย 

Must be reliable, detail oriented, highly organized, and able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Must be able to work both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team

Preferred:

BA or BS preferred, but not required
