Warehouse Associate

Join the Smithey Ironware team as we build the next great American cookware company. As a privately owned and fast-growing brand, we prioritize long-term, sustainable growth over short-term wins. We don't make average cookware—we make exceptional cookware. And we understand that our online presence is our most powerful tool to not only convert shoppers into lifelong fans, but also to share the authentic story of our brand.

Job Summary

Smithey Ironware is seeking a reliable, team-oriented Warehouse Associate to join our growing fulfillment operation in North Charleston. This is not a siloed role — the Warehouse Associate is a vital part of a collaborative team where everyone works together to hit daily shipping goals. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator who takes pride in an organized workspace and enjoys working alongside others to get the job done right.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carefully pack products and prepare shipping boxes for carrier pickup, ensuring quality and accuracy in outbound orders
  • Work closely with the warehouse team to coordinate daily tasks, support shared shipping goals, and contribute to a productive work environment
  • Assist with receiving incoming shipments, verifying inventory, and stocking shelves according to established procedures
  • Perform small-scale assembly of product kits with close attention to detail and consistency
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment throughout each shift
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of warehouse equipment
  • Complete other related warehouse duties as needed to support daily operations
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work within established processes
  • Strong focus on accuracy in picking, packing, inventory handling, and kit assembly
  • Clear communication and cooperative teamwork in a shared warehouse setting
  • Ability to maintain steady productivity while adapting to changing daily priorities
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical warehouse tasks throughout an 8-hour shift
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior warehouse, fulfillment, distribution, or light manufacturing experience preferred
  • Comfort using warehouse systems; experience with ShipHero or similar warehouse management systems is a plus
  • Forklift experience is a plus
  • Spanish-speaking bilingual ability is a plus
Job Details
  • Full-time schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Location: North Charleston, SC
  • Compensation: $18.00–$21.00 per hour, based on experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and use hands for repetitive motion (packing and kit assembly) throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to inspect products, verify documentation, and read labels and shipping records.
  • Work in a warehouse environment with variable temperatures and noise levels typical of fulfillment operations.
  • Operate or work in proximity to material-handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
Selection Process and Assessments

As part of our selection process, candidates may be asked to complete the Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment. This brief, untimed assessment helps Smithey better understand a candidate's natural work style and how they may collaborate within our team. Assessment results are one of several factors considered alongside experience, qualifications, and interview performance, and are not used as a sole pass/fail screen.

Offers of employment may be contingent on successful completion of a pre-employment background check consistent with Smithey policy and applicable law.
