What You'll Be Doing...

Under the direction of the Head Chef, the Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen and dishwashing areas while ensuring all dishware, glassware, cookware, utensils, and culinary equipment are cleaned and prepared to The Selvedge's exceptional standards.

The Porter plays an essential role in supporting the culinary team by maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient kitchen environment that enables seamless service and contributes to an outstanding guest experience.


Dishwashing & Sanitation

  • Wash, sanitize, dry, and properly store dishes, glassware, flatware, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment according to established procedures.
  • Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect all items to ensure cleanliness and quality before returning them to service.
  • Maintain an organized flow of clean and soiled wares to support uninterrupted kitchen operations.

Kitchen Cleanliness & Organization

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area, kitchen floors, storage areas, and waste stations.
  • Empty trash, recycling, and compost containers regularly while maintaining clean and sanitized waste receptacles.
  • Assist with cleaning kitchen equipment, shelving, refrigeration, and food preparation areas as assigned.
  • Support daily, weekly, and deep cleaning projects to maintain luxury hospitality standards.

Team Support

  • Assist culinary team members with general kitchen support as needed.
  • Transport clean equipment and supplies throughout the kitchen.
  • Restock dishware, glassware, and kitchen supplies as necessary.
  • Support breakfast service, special events, and other culinary operations as business needs require.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Properly handle cleaning chemicals and equipment according to company policies.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned duties efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in supporting changing operational needs.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by culinary leadership.


Requirements:

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • One (1) year of dishwashing, stewarding, kitchen, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and efficiency.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and support the culinary team.
  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require.
