Job Details

Job Summary:

Assists mechanics in performing preventative maintenance, special inspections and general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Helps perform moderate to complex repairs on engines, drive trains, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, alternators, electrical systems, instrumentations, trailer bulk product transfer, handling and storage systems and other necessary power equipment. Properly annotates all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software. Additional responsibilities include general housekeeping duties in all terminal and shop facilities, as directed by the Shop Manager (SM).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists mechanics in performing preventive maintenance inspections on tractors and cargo tank trailers.
  • Assists with performing moderate to complex repairs on engines, drive trains, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, alternators, electrical systems, instrumentations, trailer bulk product transfer, handling and storage systems, and other necessary power equipment.
  • Operate steaming machinery
  • Connect, monitor, and disconnect steam to the heating coils of a loaded cargo tank.
  • Documents heating operations on a steam log.
  • Compare product name on the bill of lading with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to verify product name is the same on both documents prior to conducting steam operations.

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, Hours depend on location.
