Summary
The primary responsibility of the Machine Operator is to operate machinery in the fabrication shop and to ensure all equipment is maintained and serviced according to established protocols.
Essential Functions
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and serviced according to established protocols
  • Operate, maintain, and demonstrate mastery of one or more machines; cross-trained on multiple machines as applicable
  • Inspect slabs for defects and ensure cuts are accurate
  • Polish and cut stone and edges to specifications
  • Apply increasing knowledge of materials and stone characteristics to ensure quality output
  • Perform machine operations and maintenance with a high level of accuracy and efficiency
  • Support workflow and production schedules as required
  • Provide guidance or mentoring to other operators as applicable
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills & Competencies
  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED); technical degree preferred
  • 1+ years of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing environment, with increasing responsibility over time
  • Experience running machines in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic to advanced mechanical skills related to equipment maintenance
  • Ability to drive production according to a set schedule
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Cross-functional expertise on multiple pieces of equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Ability to identify stone characteristics and material defects with accuracy
