Job Purpose:

To set up and administer medications under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Nurse, and to

function as a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) when needed.

Shift Available :7AM-7PM


Essential job Duties and Responsibilities:

Medication Administration Functions:

Prepares, administers, and documents medications following accepted practices, and in accordance with regulations under the direction and supervision on a Licensed Nurse.

Personal Care, Nursing Care, and Food Service Functions:

Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing of bed linens, and positioning in and out of bed, chair, etc. Assist with resident recreation programs. Prepares residents for meals and snacks. Assists residents in eating where needed, and records food intake.

Reads and follows daily care plans; performs assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures, reports changes in resident condition to Nurse in charge; documents care provision on resident record/flow sheets as required and reports accidents and incidents, and provides nursing functions as directed by supervisor.

Safety, Sanitation and Infection Control:

Understands and follows safety, sanitation and infection control policy and procedures, to include but not limited to proper hand washing, proper wearing of masks and gloves and promptly reports any

violations to supervisor.

In-service and continuing education:

Attend orientation and in-service as required by the state. Completes all required on-line education

as deemed necessary by the state and the facility.

Resident Rights and relationships:

Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding residents’ rights.

Promotes positive relationships with residents, visitors and government regulators, to include presenting a professional appearance and attitude.

Other Job Functions:

Support Function:

Assist in admission, transfer and discharge of residents.

Staff Development:

Attend and participate in training, educational activities and staff meetings; assist with orientation and training other staff.

Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical device):

Works in a climate-controlled and well-lighted environment.. Works in an office and throughout the building daily. Has Category 1 risk of exposure to infectious diseases, but receives training in handwashing practices and Universal Precautions and has access to personal protective equipment if direct exposure is anticipated. Is subject to interruptions, noise, and odors daily


Walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures, ability to communicate with residents and employees, ability to understand and follow training, ability to instruct staff in service education, and the ability to remain calm under stress.

Qualifications:

Must be a Certified Medication Aide (CMA), and a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) in good standing with the State.


Must have ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.


Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other associates.


Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.


Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
