The primary purpose of the Assistant Director of Nursing ADON, is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of our Nursing Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, laws, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility. Assistant Director of Nursing ADON, day-to-day will include:

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the Health Campus.
  • Develop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program for the nursing service department.
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc. as necessary
  • Make daily rounds of the nursing service department to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
  • Assist the HR Director in developing performance evaluations on an annual basis for the nursing department. Ensure that departmental disciplinary action is administered fairly and proper documentation for such discipline is given to HR Director for personnel file.
  • Ensure that the nursing department’s policy and procedure manuals identify safety precautions and equipment to use when performing tasks that could result in bodily injury.
  • Assist the Infection Control Coordinator in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job-related functions to ensure that tasks in which potential exposure to blood/body fluids are properly identified and recorded.
  • Ensure that all personnel performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood/body fluids participate in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing such tasks.
  • Ensure that adequate supplies of personal protective equipment are on hand and are readily available to personnel who perform procedures that involve exposure to blood or body fluids.
  • Monitor nursing service personnel to ensure that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Assist the MDS/Care Plan Coordinator in planning & revising the MDS. Encourage the resident and his/her family to participate in the development and review of resident’s plan of care.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a full-time Assistant Director of Nursing ADON (LPN or RN).

· Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an active LPN or RN License in the state of Indiana. Must have and maintain a current, valid state LPN or RN license and current, valid CPR certification required.

· Supervisory/management skills required.

· Must have a minimum 5 years’ experience working as a supervisor in a hospital, long term care or other related health care facility.

· Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.

· Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English.

· Must be able to make independent decisions concerning above job duties

· Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family member, visitors, government agencies/personnel, vendors, and the general public.

· Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.

· Must be alert and attentive to detail. Able to remember names and places. Able to plan own work activities and manage multiple tasks. Able to supervise and deal with varying employee personalities. Must be able to make decisions and show good judgment.

· Must present a neat, clean, professional appearance and demonstrate a positive, cheerful attitude towards associates and residents.
