Description
The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for meeting the daily operational needs of our customers. This position is accountable for planning and executing customer shipments as well as monitoring carrier's performance. Additional responsibilities include problem resolution and building customer relationships. When issues arise, the Supply Chain Specialist is expected to take appropriate action to resolve the issues and ultimately hold the carriers accountable for meeting our customer's needs while balancing service and profitability.

The Position
  • Assume a primary role in the start-up of new account(s) to include: TMS implementation, process development/documentation, carrier on-boarding/sourcing, and providing updates to all parties
  • Source, negotiate, build, and manage carrier network to ensure customer and carrier needs are met. Understand current market trends and costs to maintain competitive yet profitable pricing
  • Oversee assigned accounts in the transportation management systems to ensure all shipments contain accurate data for planning, execution/dispatch, and reporting purposes (i.e. tracking information, rates, current status, appointment times, final charges, etc.)
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers, vendors, and carriers by providing superior customer service: verbally, written, and at times, leading face to face meetings
  • Identify, analyze, and recommend opportunities to push strategic initiatives forward to result in service improvements, cost savings and a streamlined workflow
  • Assist in the evolution of the account plan; provide recommendations for account improvements and identify growth opportunities or threats
  • Create, monitor, and analyze advanced TMS reporting; report and analyze key performance indicators
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for assigned accounts

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; post high school education is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant transportation, supply chain or Customer Service work experience preferred
  • Intermediate/Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Power Point, and Word. Desire to learn the Microsoft Business Intelligence tool
  • Ability to learn technology quickly and work with three to four different programs simultaneously
  • Ability to work and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
