Summary of Position
The Simplified Chinese Localization QA Specialist is responsible for evaluating, testing, and refining localized game content to ensure an exceptional experience for players in Mainland China. This role ensures all in-game text, UI elements, event materials, and player-facing communications are linguistically flawless, culturally resonant, and fully compliant with internal glossaries and regional sensitivities. The position conducts rigorous in-game LQA testing, performs post-editing on machine-translated content, validates reported text/UI bugs, and collaborates with global teams to maintain top-tier localization quality across all releases.
We are currently working in the office 2-3x a week in a hybrid work model.
Job Responsibilities
  • Review, evaluate, and correct localized game content for Simplified Chinese, including machine-translated output; ensure accuracy, cultural appropriateness, tone alignment, and overall readability; maintain internal terminology and style consistency across legacy and newly released content
  • Perform in-game LQA testing during patches and content updates to validate contextual accuracy, UI compatibility, and formatting integrity; reproduce and clarify LQA issues for developers or QA teams
  • Review and triage localization bugs submitted by players, QA, and community sources; provide final corrections or re-translations; collaborate with internal teams to implement fixes efficiently
  • Maintain documentation of recurring language issues, contribute to terminology updates, and support improvements to internal style guides and localization processes
  • Handle administrative tasks related to LQA planning, tracking, and communication with internal partners as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Experience
  • 1+ years of experience in localization, ideally in the gaming or entertainment industry
  • Experience with translation tools (memoQ, etc.) and task tracking systems (JIRA, etc.)
  • Strong familiarity with gaming terminology, genre conventions, and player communication tone

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • Linguistics, translation, communications, or related field preferred

Knowledge/Skills
  • Native-level fluency in Simplified Chinese with strong English proficiency
  • Interest in working on legacy content, maintaining tone consistency, and contributing to long-term quality improvements
  • Sharp attention to linguistic nuance, consistency, and readability
  • Self-motivated and organized, able to handle multiple tasks in fast-paced release cycles

Preferred Knowledge/Skills
  • Passion for gaming and understanding of in-game narrative and UI contexts
  • Previously supported live games or worked in a fast-paced game localization setting
  • Experience as a Simplified Chinese language specialist or LQA reviewer, specifically from the vendor side
  • Familiarity with machine translation workflows and quality evaluation

Compensation Description for Pay Transparency (hourly)
The base salary range for this position in El Segundo, CA is $30.00 - $36.00 hourly.
Our salary ranges are determined by market data based on position and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum salaries for that position. An individual's pay is determined by factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's qualifications, skills, experiences, relevant education or training, and location.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work. This role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, however the salary range listed in this job posting reflects the base salary only.
