Position Overview:
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be part of our Genset Development team. This position is responsible for leading projects and initiatives with broad scope and significant impact on the business, leveraging technical expertise in reciprocating engines. The role contributes to overall strategy and manages complex issues within INNIO as well as with customers and suppliers. This position requires an assertive Senior Engineer with strong communication and leadership skills, capable of coordinating complex, cross-functional engineering projects and driving efficient solutions while balancing technical requirements and strategic business goals.
This position will be based at our Houston, TX office.
Responsibilities:
Identify technical product weaknesses at the generator set level across design, production, and customer operation, and drive issue resolution through all levels of the organization until critical KPIs are met.
Act as the technical project lead for INNIO's scope of supply on multiple large and complex engine projects, focusing on identifying project needs and executing projects through to closure.
Coordinate and document project-specific product specifications and subsystem definitions across all involved internal functions and external partners.
Manage changes to project requirements in collaboration with Customers, Sales, Suppliers, Engineering teams, Service, Product Management, Sourcing, and other INNIO functions.
Organize and lead regular project meetings, track action items, and drive resolution of technical challenges.
Facilitate the application of new, non-established technical solutions based on project-specific requirements.
Own project milestone tracking and ensure on-time delivery of project deliverables.
Prepare and conduct internal project reviews in collaboration with PMO and PLM.
Support Sourcing in localization projects and supply base initiatives by evaluating and validating alternative packaging suppliers, providing technical RFQ documents, and participating in alignment calls and supplier visits.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education, with eight (8) or more years of relevant engine development experience
Substantial experience in reciprocating engine mechanical development within the medium- to large-bore sector
Proficiency in the latest engineering tools and methodologies relevant to product development, including but not limited to: RCA, DFMEA, Six Sigma, DMAIC, Fishbone, FTA, and Design for Reliability
Hands-on experience across a broad range of engineering aspects such as design, analysis, validation and testing, production, and prototyping
Commitment to sustainability by supporting initiatives that reduce life-cycle emissions and contribute to the development of low-carbon and circular products
Ability to travel up to 75% of the working time spent at customer sites
Valid driver's license and passport
Legally authorized to work in the United States
