Position Summary

The Loading Dock Attendant manages and maintains the loading dock and associated activities at Bal Harbour Shops. This role involves ensuring the smooth operation of the loading dock, providing excellent customer service to anyone who comes into contact with the loading dock, and ensuring compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of staging and delivery activities to support timely, damage-free unloading of shipments.
  • Directs traffic to ensure only authorized vehicles enter the loading dock and are assigned to appropriate loading areas.
  • Provides individuals who enter the loading dock with friendly and professional customer service, addressing their loading dock-related inquiries and concerns or offer guidance on finding parking or otherwise redirecting them appropriately.
  • Handle customer complaints or issues promptly and escalate complex problems to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a safe and secure loading dock environment by monitoring the premises regularly.
  • Report any suspicious activities or security breaches to the appropriate authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures, such as fire lane restrictions and emergency access points.
  • Monitor the loading dock’s condition, reporting any damages, maintenance needs, or hazards to the appropriate department.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure repairs or cleaning tasks are carried out promptly.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as clearing debris from walkways.
  • Collaborate with security personnel or law enforcement agencies during emergencies or evacuations.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments or personnel to address repeated or unauthorized parking violations.
  • Verifies and/or completes required documentation and reports.
  • Complies with all applicable laws and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, strongly preferred.
  • 1 year preferred experience responsibility in loading dock or warehouse management

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to use electric pallet jack as well as stand-up forklift is a must.
  • Must wear company issued uniform (Safety vest, Shirt, pants).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with drivers, guests, tenants, employees amd other visitors of the loading dock.
  • Ability to handle difficult or stressful situations calmly and professionally.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills for maintaining records and generating reports.
  • Knowledge of parking regulations and traffic control procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • This is a full-time position. The incumbent must have the ability to work a varying schedule which might include shift work (days or nights), weekdays or weekends, and most holidays. Work hours may vary, or change based on customer order requirements.

Physical Requirements

Position requires the incumbent to stand, walk, bend, twist, & stretch. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Along with having the ability to push and pull up to approximately 20lbs of drag weight without assistance. Due to this position being outside in the loading dock, the employee will be exposed to all weather conditions.
