A day in the life:
The Security - Loading Dock Officer is responsible for overseeing the secure and efficient operation of loading docks at designated client locations. This position plays a critical role in managing deliveries, monitoring inbound and outbound traffic, and ensuring compliance with security protocols and facility procedures specific to each site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while assisting vendors, employees, tenants, and visitors.
  • Monitor and control access to client loading docks and adjacent areas, ensuring only authorized personnel are permitted entry.
  • Greet and verify delivery personnel, vendors, and contractors entering the loading dock area.
  • Maintain a visible presence and patrol assigned dock zones to deter theft, vandalism, or unauthorized activity.
  • Answer incoming calls and manage communication related to dock operations.
  • Enforce building and loading dock policies and procedures within established guidelines.
  • Inspect outgoing deliveries to ensure authorized removal of property.
  • Monitor security systems and alarms related to dock areas.
  • Prepare incident and activity reports as required.
  • Follow established emergency protocols and support evacuation procedures if needed.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid state-mandated security officer license or ability to obtain one.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in security, preferably with logistics or dock-related responsibilities.
  • Reliable transportation and effective communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and customer service mindset.
  • Ability to write routine reports and complete logs accurately.
  • Familiarity with security systems, access control devices, and safety protocols.
