Job description

We are looking for a passionate Chapter Specialist to join our team and make a difference. As a Chapter Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in working closely with chapters in Raleigh, North Carolina to enhance their programming, engagement, and overall impact for Jewish teens. Alongside your teammates, you'll connect in a dynamic environment and create a positive impact on teens, our community, and the world.
SHAPING THE FUTURE FOR TEENS AND YOURSELF
As a Chapter Specialist, responsibilities will include:
  • Work directly with teens (grades 8-12) to create impactful, fun, and dynamic programming.
  • Coach teens on recruitment and retention strategies that build and grow their chapters to exceed membership and engagement goals.
  • Support teens in building and executing chapter calendars, ensuring a consistent and sustainable programming cadence.
  • Be present at chapter events and meetings, providing guidance, supervision, and mentorship as the adult in the room
  • Ensure chapter participation in region-wide initiatives (e.g. Kickoffs, RLTI, and convention)
  • Ensure chapter participation in organization-wide initiatives (e.g., BBYO Summer Programs, ILN, and IC)
  • Track and analyze chapter data, including attendance, engagement, and membership trends, to inform strategy
  • Build relationships and maintain communication with members, parents, and community partners
  • Participate as a member of the regional team to bring innovative ideas and best practices to the community.
  • Participate in monthly professional development with fellow Chapter Specialists
  • Other duties as assigned

DRIVING CHAPTER HEALTH AND SUCCESS
Success in this role is measured by consistent improvement in chapter health and engagement outcomes.
As a Chapter Specialist, you will partner with teen leaders to build strong, sustainable chapters by tracking and improving key metrics, including:
  • Membership Growth: Total new members recruited
  • Engagement:
    • % of inactive members (0 events attended in the current year)
    • % of very involved teens (3+ events, overnight experiences, and/or participation in immersive experiences such as summer programs or International Convention)
  • Leadership Development:
    • Number of teens in the core leadership pipeline (holding chapter leadership roles and/or participating in CLTC, ILTC, Kallah, ILSI, or similar programs)
  • Upperclassmen Engagement:
    • % of juniors and seniors attending at least one event
  • Summer Experience Pipeline:
    • CLTC attendance and overall immersive experience participation

To Drive these Outcomes:
  • Use data to coach teen leaders on goal-setting and chapter strategy
  • Identify gaps in engagement and implement targeted outreach plans
  • Strengthen recruitment, retention, and leadership pipelines
  • Build sustainable chapters with consistent participation across grade levels

ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR MAKING A LASTING IMPACT
Our team has an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for innovation to drive positive change. Additionally, Chapter Specialists qualifications are as follows:
  • Must be at least 3 years removed from high school.
  • Role has in-person responsibilities. Candidate must live within or close to Raleigh.
  • Active participation at local chapter programs is required. Chapter program on average 2-4x a month.
  • Ability to transport self to and from chapter or regional events.
  • The number of hours worked per week is flexible, but a minimum of 5 hours a week.
  • A creative and responsible self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration with teens.
  • A background in BBYO or similar youth/Jewish organization is preferred but not required.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without holding a visa or sponsorship.
  • To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty/function with or without reasonable accommodation in accordance with applicable law.
  • Must be available for fall and spring conventions (dates to be discussed during interview).

Time Commitment: 5-10 hours a week (will vary), some nights and weekends required.
