Chef | Breton Woods | Full-Time 40 hours

Job Summary

Are you passionate about culinary excellence and making a meaningful impact through food? Holland Home is seeking a Chef to assist in our kitchen with creativity, precision, and heart.In this position, you will prepare and cook food for residents and staff using standardized recipes and complying with regulatory requirements; assuring that all prepared food items meet standards for temperature, quality, consistency, freshness, taste and appearance.

What will you do:

  • Complete advance prep as needed for meal service
  • Check and record food temperatures; taste all prepared items
  • Clean prep area and equipment after use
  • Label all food containers with date, time, and item description
  • Maintain required logs (temperature, delivery, sanitation, etc.)
  • Respect and uphold resident rights in daily practices

Schedule:

  • Full-time
  • Tuesday - Saturday; 9:30am - 5:30pm, with some variation

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6-12 months of cooking experience required; large-scale food prep preferred
  • Complete Food Safety Training within 90 days of hire
  • Valid Michigan driver's license or State ID
  • Must pass a basic physical and criminal background check

Skills to be successful:

  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate p with staff, residents, and their families while performing cooking tasks.
  • Ability to work well independently given proper direction.
  • Ability to meet Holland Home's standards for attendance.
