Sous Chef - Mason Street Grill
Our team prides itself on delivering consistent, exceptional dining experiences. If you are an enthusiastic, driven culinary professional with the ability to blend creativity, precision, and strong kitchen leadership, Mason Street Grill is seeking a Sous Chef who will elevate the guest experience while supporting the Executive Chef in achieving exceptional culinary performance.
As part of Mason Street Grill within the iconic Pfister Hotel and the growing Marcus Hotels & Resorts portfolio, this role offers far more than a single restaurant opportunity. Our associates have access to a wide range of career growth, leadership development, and advancement opportunities across multiple luxury hotels, restaurants, spas, and resorts throughout the company.
As Sous Chef at Mason Street Grill, you will train, mentor, and supervise our kitchen team while ensuring that food quality, consistency, and presentation reflect the highest standards. The Sous Chef must bring both leadership and craftsmanship to the role, helping to shape memorable dining experiences that define our restaurant.
Mason Street Grill in downtown Milwaukee has become a local favorite for wood-grilled steaks, fresh seafood, handcrafted cocktails, and live jazz. In addition to great food and drinks, we provide exceptional service you cannot find anywhere else. At Mason Street, we want to serve experiences. Whether it is the enticing aromas from the grill, the energy of live music, or the satisfaction of a perfectly prepared meal, we strive to create moments that bring guests back repeatedly.
What you will be doing:
• Supervise daily line operations to ensure consistency, quality, and exceptional execution.
• Prepare menu items to exact recipe and presentation standards for restaurant and private dining.
• Train, coach, and guide culinary staff to support performance, growth, and teamwork.
• Oversee ordering, receiving, storage, rotation, and inventory to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
• Ensure all equipment and work areas meet strict cleanliness and sanitation standards.
• Contribute to menu development, special requests, and other assigned culinary duties.
Position Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree or formal training preferred.
• Minimum 2-3 years of culinary experience in a hotel, resort, or upscale dining environment, with supervisory responsibility.
• Solid knowledge of food products, preparation techniques, and kitchen standards.
• Basic understanding of food and labor cost awareness and the ability to support cost-control efforts.
• Effective communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What is in it for you?
• Competitive Salary, Early Wage Access, and Paid Time Off
• Health Insurance eligible after 30 days of employment, with company-paid Life Insurance
• Employee Assistance Program and 401(k) employer match every paycheck.
• Discounted Monthly On-Site Self-Parking, Discounted Dry Cleaning, and Cell Phone reimbursement.
• Wide range of career growth, leadership development, and advancement opportunities across multiple luxury hotels, restaurants, spas, and resorts
• Room discounts at Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Historic Hotels of America, and Preferred Hotel properties.
• Discounts at Marcus Hotels & Resorts restaurants, cafes, lounges, golf courses, ski resorts, spas, and discounted movie tickets at Marcus Theaters
• Complimentary, well-balanced meal every shift.
Job Type: Full-Time, Salary
Pay Range: $60,000 - $70,000
