Kindred Heart Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our dedicated staff near Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This is a weekday position — no weekends required.

Our practice is filled with natural light and is fully equipped with in-house labs, digital radiographs, and ultrasound. We love our dedicated dental suite and dental radiographs. Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide animal nursing care to critically ill hospitalized patients in conjunction with veterinarians.
  • Client communication
  • Triaging patients including basic injury/illness assessment, gathering patient information and taking vital signs.
  • Administer injectable and inhalant anesthesia.
  • Patient care and treatments
  • Performing diagnostic testing including radiographs and lab work
  • Assisting with surgical procedures and patient monitoring
  • Assisting in taking radiographs
  • Medication calculation and administration
  • Placing IV catheters and maintaining feeding tubes and urinary catheters
  • Monitor Surgical procedures.
  • Lab Diagnostics
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, and unpleasant odors.
  • Ability to always communicate professionally and effectively and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged / challengin situations.
  • Ability to provide high quality customer service embodying a yes culture for clients.
  • Ability to work effectively with computers, software, and electronics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Physical ability to handle and restrain animals
