Climate Pledge Arena, located at Seattle Center, is the complete redevelopment of an historic landmark, originally built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. The arena is home to the NHL's Seattle Kraken, WNBA's Seattle Storm, PWHL Seattle and the world's biggest performers of live music and events. The arena is named after The Climate Pledge, an initiative founded by Amazon and Global Optimism asking global corporations to become net zero carbon by 2040. Climate Pledge Arena has one of the most progressive sustainability programs of any building its size, including being the world's first Zero Carbon Certified arena. Position Summary:
The Event Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of Climate Pledge Arena events including hockey, basketball, concerts and special events, private events, and concert VIP activations on the Climate Pledge Arena campus. This position will lead all front and back of house activities and will support the logistical and functional needs of the event management department, teams, promoters, internal departments, and service providers. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong aptitude for project management, leadership, effective communication, and possess a true passion for delivering unparalleled guest service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manages the planning, budgeting, and coordination of event operations before, during, and after assigned events for approximately 100 events annually.
  • Determines all logistical needs and communicates and coordinates necessary services for the Guest Services, Hospitality, Security, Operations, Production, Emergency Services, Media Services, Food & Beverage and Catering, Ticketing & Premium Sales & Services, Parking, and Concert Merchandise Departments through final settlement and reconciliation.
  • Serves as primary contact to teams, event promoters, athletic departments and clients to assigned arena events. Acts as the primary liaison to successfully execute events and accomplish client and arena goals.
  • Compiles and communicates all pre and post event related information. Prepares and distributes notes to appropriate departments, vendors and others to ensure necessary levels of staffing coverage and overall event understanding.
  • Prepares event estimates and budgets, manages event expenses and ensures submittal for each event assigned.
  • Escalates and resolves service-related concerns to Arena Management. Identifies solutions to service challenges and opportunities for service improvement.
  • Supports internal departments and tenants including Ticket Sales, Marketing, Partnership Marketing, Community Relations, and Game Presentation in the execution of game and event concourse and arena activations.
  • Monitors adherence to policy & procedure from all departments on an on-going basis to establish high levels of service.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all internal departments, clients, partners and stakeholders.
  • Assists in the overall recognition and appreciation initiatives for event staff to ensure consistency in service and venue knowledge across all levels of the venue.
  • Develops and maintains event related files, materials, inventory, systems, and distribution lists for department use.
  • Provides additional departmental support as needed.

Required Experience & Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years' experience in large sports and/or music entertainment management and production.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Sport/Event Management, Hospitality, Business OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in the field.
  • Proven ability to think strategically with a willingness to roll up sleeves and execute projects.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a management position with supervisory and decision-making responsibility.
  • Must be adaptable and flexible with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional experience in leading, motivating and developing employees.
  • A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
  • Must be a fierce communicator and cross-organizational collaborator.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
  • Operations experience with large-scale events in a stadium, concert, or multi-use facility setting of a similar size (18,000 seats) is highly desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of event logistics, production, budgeting, planning, and implementation.
  • Experience working and servicing various stakeholders including emergency personnel, labor unions, high profile artists and guests.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted safety standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize needs efficiently

Working Conditions:
  • Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
  • Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building

Compensation:
  • In accordance with the Washington State Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the expected base pay range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 annually. Actual base pay will depend on employee's experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
  • This is a full-time, exempt role.
