Job Description
The Event Manager leads end-to-end delivery of large-scale event workstreams, with a strong focus on program management, content and expo planning, and post-event analytics. This role requires deep experience running complex events with operational excellence, the ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance, and the confidence to represent programs to senior leadership. The Event Manager drives innovation in event execution, anticipates and resolves roadblocks, and ensures that every aspect of assigned workstreams meets high standards of quality and impact.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery of major event workstreams, including content program management, expo program management, and other conference-related components.
- Lead and manage the content program, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating sessions and run-of-show details.
- Oversee expo planning and execution, including exhibitor and partner coordination, and ensure a cohesive showcase experience.
- Manage external speaker outreach, including identifying, securing, and coordinating speakers for the conference.
- Represent owned workstreams to senior leadership, providing clear, concise status updates, surfacing risks, and identifying roadblocks early.
- Create and maintain detailed project timelines with clear milestones, deliverables, and dependencies for all assigned workstreams.
- Drive teams and stakeholders to meet milestones through structured communication, follow-up, and proactive issue resolution.
- Drive innovation in program execution and delivery methods, continuously improving processes and attendee experience.
- Lead onsite execution of assigned workstreams during live events, ensuring smooth operations and quick resolution of issues under pressure.
- Conduct post-event data analysis to evaluate performance, attendee engagement, and operational effectiveness.
- Develop and present recommendations for future program improvements based on data, metrics, and stakeholder feedback.
- Collaborate closely with design program managers, communications partners, and cross-functional teams to align on goals and execution plans.
- Build, execute, and scale cross-functional programs or marketing campaigns from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with broader event strategy.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively through written and verbal communication with stakeholders at all levels.
- Use data and metrics to drive continuous improvements in event programs, processes, and attendee outcomes.
Essential Skills
- 7+ years of professional, non-internship event management and/or event production experience, preferably in corporate or large-scale environments.
- Proven program management experience, including building and managing detailed run-of-show plans using tools such as Asana.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale events (3,000+ attendees), rather than only small events.
- Hands-on experience with event software, specifically platforms such as Bizzabo.
- Ability to perform exceptionally well under pressure, especially during live event execution and critical milestones.
- Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements in event strategy, operations, and attendee experience.
- Experience building, executing, and scaling cross-functional programs or marketing campaigns from concept to completion.
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Knowledge of project management tools and software and the ability to apply them effectively to event programs.
- Strong analytical abilities and confidence in using data to inform decisions and recommendations.
- Events program management or experiential marketing experience, particularly in large conference or flagship event contexts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Background as an event manager or event producer in design-focused industries, entertainment, or learning and development environments.
- Experience working at large event companies or in large corporate environments, bringing familiarity with complex organizational structures and processes.
- Experience with major technology or enterprise organizations is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with design program managers and communications partners to deliver cohesive event experiences.
- Comfort working autonomously with minimal guidance while maintaining high standards of excellence.
- Ability to anticipate and navigate roadblocks before they become issues, demonstrating strong problem-solving and risk management skills.
- Track record of driving innovation in event execution, attendee engagement, or program delivery.
Work Environment
This role operates primarily during standard business hours, with additional time expected during the week of the event to support onsite execution, including potential evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed. The Event Manager works within an annual event production team focused on delivering a flagship conference held in the first or second week of November, with activities and follow-up extending into December. The environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, with frequent collaboration and communication with other event managers, design program managers, and cross-functional partners. The role involves extensive use of project management tools such as Asana and event platforms like Bizzabo, as well as data and analytics tools to support post-event analysis.
