Position Summary

The AV Technician supports the delivery of exceptional client and guest experiences by setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and striking audio, video, and lighting equipment for conventions, corporate meetings, concerts, live performances, and social events.

Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with the Event Manager, this role helps ensure each event's technical requirements are executed safely, efficiently, and to the high standards our clients expect. Every role at the Lynnwood Event Center is a hospitality role, and the AV Technician is an important part of creating welcoming, seamless experiences from load-in through event completion.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Set up, operate, and strike audio, video, and lighting equipment according to event orders and technical requirements.
  • Operate sound boards, wireless microphone systems, projectors, screens, and video switching equipment during live events.
  • Coordinate with the Event Manager and clients to understand and execute event-specific technical needs.
  • Troubleshoot AV equipment issues in real time while maintaining a professional and guest-focused approach.
  • Safely run and secure cabling while following venue safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain AV equipment inventory and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assist with routine testing and basic maintenance of house audio, video, and lighting systems.
  • Follow all safety procedures related to ladders, lifts, rigging, and equipment operation.
  • Support the Operations team with event setup, teardown, room flips, and other venue needs as assigned.
  • Provide on-site technical support during evenings, weekends, holidays, and other scheduled events.


Job Qualifications & Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • One (1) or more years of experience operating AV equipment in a live event, venue, production, or hospitality environment.
  • Working knowledge of sound boards, wireless microphone systems, projection equipment, and video switching technology.
  • Ability to read and interpret event orders and technical riders.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure during live events.
  • Professional communication skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with clients and internal teams.
  • Comfort working at heights and operating ladders or scissor lifts (training or certification provided if needed).
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts based on the event schedule.
