Job Description

J.S. Held's Complex Accounting & Litigation team is seeking a seasoned and entrepreneurial Manager to expand our investigative consulting services. This is a role for a professional with experience in complex investigations and litigation and/or external audit.

As a Manager / Senior Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading high impact / complex engagements and cultivating long-term client relationships across industries and geographies.

This role is appropriate for professionals at the Manager or Senior Manager level depending on experience, with increasing expectations in client origination, engagement leadership, and industry visibility at the Senior Manager level.

Location

This role is primarily aligned to our Reston VA office but offers flexibility for a hybrid work environment.

Job Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Project Oversight

  • Execute complex, multi-jurisdictional investigations involving regulatory inquiries, compliance reviews, financial transactions, and litigation support. For example:
    • Conduct forensic accounting analyses including fraud investigations, damages quantification, and financial reconstruction.
    • Support litigation and arbitration matters, including expert report preparation, testimony support, presentations, and data visualizations.
    • Analyze large datasets to identify financial irregularities, trends, or risk indicators.
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional service delivery and strategic insight.
  • Develop and implement go-to-market strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders, such as:
    • Lead or contribute to business development efforts, including proposal development, pitch participation, and opportunity identification.
    • Contribute to practice growth through thought leadership, publications, and market visibility
  • Build and maintain relationships with law firms, financial institutions, and corporate clients.
  • Represent J.S. Held at industry events, conferences, and client engagements.
Qualifications
  • 7-10+ years of experience in forensic accounting, investigations, disputes, or related consulting environments with an active CPA license.
  • Proven leadership experience with a focus on team development and client delivery.
    • Lead and mentor junior professionals, including review of work product and professional development.
    • Manage engagement teams, budgets, timelines, and deliverable quality.
    • Provide constructive feedback and contribute to a high-performance team culture.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working across international jurisdictions and regulatory environments
  • Certified Fraud Examiner or desire to obtain CFE License.
  • Big 4 Audit Experience is highly preferred. Financial services industry experience also highly preferred.

Physical and Mental Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position during work shift.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is 120k - 140k. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.
