Job Description

Overview:

The Litigation & Claims Manager coordinates the daily management of all U.S. litigation and claims. This includes cases that may be covered by insurance and those that are not. This role works closely with legal counsel, Risk Management, and business leadership to coordinate case strategy. It supports effective prosecution and defense of claims and ensures alignment among internal and external collaborators. The Manager will participate in mediations, arbitrations, and trials as a company representative, oversee the collection and production of documentation for litigation and discovery, maintain comprehensive litigation files, and manage related invoices, settlements, and expenses. The position also involves monitoring key deadlines, preparing quarterly reports on case status and risk exposure, and maintaining relationships with outside counsel, expert witnesses, and insurer-appointed counsel. In addition, the Litigation & Claims Manager will evaluate and improve litigation and claims management systems, partner with regional leadership to align efforts with broader operational objectives, and lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team within the function.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of all U.S. litigation and claims, including matters potentially covered by insurance as well as those not covered by insurance

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and legal counsel to support the effective prosecution and defense of litigation and claims

  • Act on behalf of the company in dispute resolution processes such as mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings, supporting case strategy and resolution efforts

  • Meet regularly with in-house counsel to review case developments, evaluate exposure, and align on litigation and claims strategy

  • Assist in-house counsel and business operators in the selection and engagement of outside counsel and other legal resources

  • Prepare and deliver quarterly reports summarizing the status, key developments, and risk exposure associated with all U.S. litigation and claims

  • Maintain and manage relationships with outside counsel, expert witnesses, and where applicable, in coordination with Risk Management, insurer-appointed counsel

  • In partnership with in-house counsel, provide guidance and support to leadership on litigation and claims-related matters

  • Evaluate existing legal dispute resolution and claims handling systems and processes; recommend and support implementation of improvements or upgrades to improve efficiency, reporting, and oversight

  • Coordinate with the Company's Risk Management team to ensure alignment on insurance-related matters, claims handling, and litigation strategy

  • Manage and administer claims as directed by in-house counsel, ensuring timely coordination and execution of required actions

  • Support counsel by coordinating the collection and production of documentation required for litigation, claims, and discovery processes

  • Maintain and oversee all Company litigation files to ensure accurate recordkeeping and accessibility of case materials

  • Review, coordinate, and process legal documentation requiring Company approval and execution, including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions, settlement agreements, and related filings

  • Administer and track the payment of legal invoices, settlements, and related expenses in accordance with Company policies and approval.

  • Maintain the litigation calendar, monitor key deadlines, and facilitate meetings with internal stakeholders and counsel to ensure timely progression of matters

  • Oversee the review, approval, and allocation of legal invoices in coordination with internal stakeholders and finance

  • Partner with regional leadership to align litigation and claims management with broader operational objectives

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team, fostering accountability, professional development, and strong execution

  • Establish clear performance expectations and support the development of the team within the litigation and claims function


What You'll Bring:

  • 10+ years litigation and claims experience

  • Experience managing covered claims and working with insurers to resolve claims

  • Previous experience working with senior leadership or executive management level positions

  • Ability to solve difficult, complex problems and drive executive leadership decision making

  • Willingness to work through short and unexpected deadlines

  • Possess a strong business acumen; accomplishing objectives while considering all aspects of the broader business goals

  • Ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, from senior leadership to front line team members

  • Excellent ability to handle sensitive information
