Job description

LIRR Technician (Long Island Railroad Account)

The LIRR Technician (Long Island Railroad Account) is responsible for providing dedicated waste removal service exclusively at the Long Island Railroad according to contract specifications.

Essential Functions
  • Basic service truck driving functions in accordance with USS, DOT, and LIRR requirements
  • Operate service cart in accordance with LIRR requirements
  • Operate motorized pumps to extract waste from holding tanks on train cars
  • Thoroughly clean holding tanks
  • Offload waste at an off-site transfer station
  • Conduct all work duties in a safe manner in accordance with USS and DOT safety standards to ensure no accidents or injuries
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

• Complete annual LIRR Roadway Protections Safety Training
• Meet client specific background requirements to obtain security clearance

Physical Requirements
  • Sit while driving and stand while servicing products
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel objects tools or controls
  • Repeat the same movements

  • Speak clearly so customers can understand
  • Understand the speech of another person
  • Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
  • Walk up to 30 minutes at a time without exertion
  • Enter and exit equipment by stepping and kneeling
  • Lift up to 40lbs from your waist to your shoulders
  • Lift 30lbs from the floor to your head
  • Crouch and squat
  • Push 100lbs and pull 100lbs horizontally
