Job description

Assistant Buyer

Location: Port Washington, NY

Type: Full Time

Min. Experience: Entry Level

Safavieh is an upscale global home furnishing, rugs & accessories company looking for a proactive, personable, highly motivated and organized Assistant Buyer – Home Furnishings.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious, responsible and detail-oriented self-starter with a strong passion for continuous learning and professional development, as this position will provide a basic foundation and necessary skill set for a great career. Our offices are located in Port Washington, NY.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Senior Buyer during the product development phase while supporting seasonal concepts and needs.
  • Communicate with overseas vendors to define product requirements for design and sourcing to ensure on time delivery.
  • Responsible for SKU setup/ SKU maintenance
  • Responsible for handling all pricing: enter and maintain all price and cost changes, working closely with Senior Buyer
  • Responsible for sample management
  • Responsible for product photography management and maintenance to include reviewing product photography proofs and communicating with marketing teams in order to ensure all product is up-to-date on company webpage.
  • Take on general administrative duties

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2 years Buying/Merchandising experience
  • Strong Analytical and Excel skills
  • Capable of reading sales trends, pulling reports, and applying learnings
  • Ability to work autonomously, strong decision-making skills with good judgement, and handling multiple priorities (shifting tasks and timelines appropriately).
  • Must be articulate, assertive, and have excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in a cross-functional role

  • Dependent upon experience
