Position Summary:
HII Mission Technologies has an immediate opportunity available for a Linux System Administrator/DevOps Engineer (Infrastructure Operations) located in Warren, MI. The ideal candidate will have experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems in a DoD RMF environment. The System Admin will build, operate, and automate Linux-based infrastructure that supports software development, build, and testing environments and maintain system integration lab infrastructure while automating repetitive operational work
This role requires on-site work in Warren, MI and cannot be performed remotely.

  • Document infrastructure

    • Build and maintain container images

    • Support build/test pipelines using containers

  • Automation & Infrastructure as Code

    • Build idempotent infrastructure automation
    • Automate operational tasks and diagnostics
  • Troubleshoot performance, service failures, and networking issues

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.
  • Practical experience with Docker or OCI container ecosystems
  • Experience administering Linux systems in production or engineering environments
  • Strong experience with Linux system administration from the command line
  • Strong hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, RHEL, Rocky, Debian)
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible automation
  • Experience writing automation scripts in Bash and/or Python
  • Familiarity with Git-based workflows for infrastructure code
  • Experience troubleshooting system, networking, and service-level issue
  • Expereince managing systems via CLI without reliance on GUI tools
  • Experience with: systemd, networking configuration, storage and file systems, package management, SHH and secure remote administrators
  • Needs to be able to be certified as an admin for Linux based on DoD requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance with the US DoD (must be a US citizen in order to obtain a clearance with the US Gov)

  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
  • A mindset focused on automation and repeatability
  • Comfort operating independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers
  • A practical, hands-on approach to building and maintaining infrastructure
  • Experience with AWS and deploying using terraform is a positive but not required
  • Experience with Kubernetes is a plus but not required
