Job description

DDC is seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to support a mission-critical federal financial systems environment running on enterprise Linux. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving the performance, security, reliability, and availability of Linux servers supporting Oracle-based financial applications and databases across production and non-production environments. The Senior Linux Administrator will lead efforts in system hardening, patching, automation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and backup/recovery, and will provide technical support for migrating Linux-based systems from on-premises infrastructure to AWS, including the use of Infrastructure as Code and modern automation practices.
*This position is contingent upon contract award.*
Responsibilities:
  • Manage complex, enterprise Linux environments with focus on performance, stability, security, and automation.

  • Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual Linux servers and operating systems.

  • Provide Linux administration support for Oracle Federal Financials environment, database, and mid-tier administration to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability (targeting 99.5%+ availability).

  • Perform patch management, vulnerability management, baseline configuration, and OS hardening.

  • Monitor systems for performance and availability, respond to alerts/outages, and support troubleshooting to resolution.

  • Develop and maintain automation using scripts (Bash/Python/Perl) and tools such as Ansible/Puppet/Chef.

  • Support backup/recovery and storage management for Linux OS environments (instance creation/modification as needed).

  • Support AWS migration of Linux-based systems from on-prem to AWS.

  • Support configuration/deployment of AWS compute, storage, and networking services.

  • Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate provisioning/configuration of AWS infrastructure; implement automation pipelines for deployment/updates.

  • Coordinate with development/application teams to support CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and integrations.

  • Maintain documentation of processes/configurations and assist in documenting undocumented processes.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Senior-level experience administering enterprise Linux environments (physical and virtual). (Minimum 10 years of experience.)

  • Strong experience with automation and configuration management (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and scripting (Bash, Python, etc.).

  • Experience supporting cloud migration to AWS and working with AWS infrastructure services.

  • Experience with monitoring, capacity planning, troubleshooting, patching, and security hardening in regulated environments.

  • Ability to support environments subject to federal security requirements (e.g., NIST/FIPS-aligned practices) and participate in audit/security support activities as needed.

  • Strong documentation and communication skills; able to work with government and contractor teams in a hybrid environment.

  • Education Level: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Program Management, Finance, Computer Science, or related field preferred. Master's degree preferred. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Clearance Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain SBA suitability/Public Trust, PIV access, and access to SBA systems as required.
  • Certification Requirements: AWS certifications are preferred but not mandatory
  • Travel will be required to Washington, DC as needed.
