Job description

We are looking for an experienced Lighting Controls Technician with a strong background in commercial lighting installation, retrofit work, and controls. This is not a general electrician role. The right candidate understands lighting systems from rough-in through commissioning, brings a high level of professionalism on customer job sites, and is comfortable working with controls platforms in occupied commercial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install lighting fixtures, lamps, ballasts, controls, and all associated components safely and neatly in customer facilities
  • Program and configure lighting controls systems including occupancy sensors, daylight harvesting, photocells, scene control, time scheduling, and dimmer racks
  • Work with controls platforms such as Lutron, Leviton, Acuity nLight, Enlighted, Hubbell, Douglas Lighting Controls, or similar
  • Interface with DALI, 0-10V dimming, DMX, BACnet, or Modbus-based systems
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or rooftops to install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
  • Execute lighting retrofit strategies across commercial, institutional, healthcare, education, and government environments
  • Read and interpret lighting control drawings, riser diagrams, and panel schedules
  • Comply with all FSG safety policies, government and local regulations, and job site safety guidelines
  • Work in a manner that protects and respects customer facilities at all times
  • Maintain strong verbal and written communication with project managers, on-site supervision, and customers

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3-5 years of hands-on lighting and electrical experience
  • Demonstrated experience with lighting controls systems, not just fixture installation
  • Retrofit experience preferred
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and operate specialized tools and equipment throughout the work order process
  • Comfortable reading blueprints and controls documentation
  • Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor on customer job sites
  • Willingness to travel
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment screenings including background check and drug screen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lutron certification or equivalent controls manufacturer training
  • Experience with DALI, BACnet, or Modbus integration
  • Familiarity with building automation system tie-ins
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30

Benefits and Compensation

  • Pay commensurate with experience, $25/hr - $35/hr
  • Consistent commercial project pipeline
  • Weekly pay.
  • Medical benefits on day 1.

Why Work With Us

This is a role for someone who actually knows lighting and lighting controls, not someone learning on the job. You will be placed on commercial projects where your technical knowledge is put to real use, supported by a team that respects the skill set it takes to do this work correctly.
