We are currently seeking a DevOps Engineering Specialist to join our Ottawa based team, unlike many DevOps positions, this role is entirely focused on on-premises infrastructure with no public cloud responsibilities due to the secure nature of our work. 

What will you be doing? 

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines. 
  • Develop and maintain GitLab CI YAML pipelines. 
  • Develop and maintain Jenkins pipelines and shared pipeline libraries. 
  • Automate software build, packaging, testing, and deployment workflows. 
  • Integrate automated unit testing, static analysis, code quality, and security scanning into build pipelines. 
  • Optimize build performance and reduce pipeline execution times. 
  • Troubleshoot build failures and improve pipeline reliability. 
  • Administer and maintain GitLab repositories.  
  • Lead GitLab migration initiatives from legacy repositories.  
  • Define and maintain Git branching strategies.  
  • Establish repository governance, permissions, and standards.  
  • Develop workflows supporting multiple concurrent software releases.  
  • Implement versioning strategies for software and firmware. 
  • Own the organization's software release process. 
  • Coordinate releases across multiple engineering teams. 
  • Manage release schedules and release readiness reviews. 
  • Produce release packages for customers and manufacturing. 
  • Maintain release documentation and software baselines. 
  • Ensure software traceability from requirements through released binaries. 
  • Support hotfix and emergency release processes. 
  • Maintain on-premises build servers.  
  • Administer Jenkins infrastructure.  
  • Manage build agents and runners.  
  • Maintain artifact repositories.  
  • Ensure build infrastructure availability and reliability.  
  • Monitor pipeline performance and system health. 

What do we need from you? 

  • Experience administering GitLab. 
  • Strong experience with Jenkins. 
  • Strong experience writing YAML pipelines. 
  • Experience developing CI/CD workflows. 
  • Experience with Git source control. 
  • Experience with Linux and Windows environments. 
  • Experience scripting in PowerShell, Bash, or Python. 
  • Strong understanding of software configuration management. 
  • Experience troubleshooting complex build issues. 
  • Ability to Automate repetitive engineering tasks. 
  • Create tooling to improve developer productivity
