Are you interested in helping us take care of one of the University's largest and most visited buildings? We are looking for energetic individuals who enjoy a balance of working together on projects and individually on assigned tasks in the areas of facilities management and maintenance. Different projects provide opportunities to work with many different people and departments on a variety of tasks.
This position is considered Category I: Mandatory and required on campus or health care facilities to support on-site operations. Employees hired into this category will be required to be physically located at Marriott Library.
For the Library to be able to appropriately monitor hours worked, part-time employees are generally asked to restrict their work with the University of Utah to Library employment only, unless an exception is granted.
Responsibilities
  • Complete daily/weekly inspection checklists to identify issues with the building, furnishings, and equipment and help facilitate corrective solutions
  • Assists Associate Director of Building Services on various of projects related to equipment, furniture, and shelving maintenance
  • Performs minor maintenance on furniture and is responsible for regular cleaning
  • Provides an escort for contractors and vendors in restricted areas during projects
  • Follows detailed instructions to ensure maintenance work-orders are completed in reasonable time
  • Keeps inventory of tools, attic stock materials and completes reports each semester
  • Provides back up coverage for the Shipping and Receiving department as needed
  • Performs weekly cleaning of the library kitchens
  • Performs general custodial work in specialty spaces
Minimum Qualifications Preferences
Current University of Utah student enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters. Demonstrate a knowledge of general maintenance skills and related tools. Ability to work independently on a variety of tasks and collaboratively in groups on assigned projects. The ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and work from a step ladder. Show effective communication and human relation skills. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
