Job Description:
As a Graduate Resource Sharing Associate, you will process requests for materials (articles, books, media, etc) in the ILLiad resource sharing software, communicate with other library professionals about resources, answer patron questions, and provide excellent customer service. Further, you will be sharing duties and working closely with the Access Services Associate. The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a love for highly detail-oriented work, including complicated computer systems.
Job Characteristics:
  • Process requests from Chatham patrons for materials from other libraries as well as requests from other libraries for materials for their patrons
  • Work extensively and independently with ILLiad resource sharing software and other library systems
  • Learn our integrated library system (ILS), Koha, as it pertains to circulation
  • Provide excellent customer service to all library patrons
  • Work closely with the Head of Access Services in addition to the Access Services Associate to implement ILLiad upgrades and improve system operations
  • Work with library staff on additional projects as needed

Learning Outcomes:
  • Demonstrate proficiency with library computer systems.
  • Demonstrate problem solving ability and critical thinking skills.
  • Define, develop, and apply principles of excellent customer service.

Availability and Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work 17-19 hours per week [Please Note: Because students may not work more than 20 hours per week between all campus jobs, this position prevents the employee from obtaining additional paid on-campus jobs.]
  • Ability to lift, transport, and sort library materials
  • Must maintain patron confidentiality
  • Previous library experience is preferred but not required

All current student employees should notify their other manager(s) if you work multiple jobs on campus at the same time. Additionally, students may not work more than 20 hours per week (combined between all campus jobs) during the academic year. Students may not exceed 980 work hours per calendar year.
Student jobs do not automatically roll over to the next academic year or summer.
