What does a Lexus Service Advisor do?

A Lexus Service Advisor acts as the main point of contact between customers and the service department at a Lexus dealership. They are responsible for understanding the customer's vehicle concerns, explaining recommended maintenance or repairs, and coordinating service appointments. Service Advisors also provide estimates, keep customers informed about their vehicle’s status, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the service process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Lexus Service Advisor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lexus Service Advisor, you need strong automotive knowledge, customer service skills, and typically a high school diploma or higher with relevant experience in the automotive industry. Familiarity with dealership management systems (DMS), scheduling software, and manufacturer-specific tools like Lexus' service platforms is often required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities help advisors build trust and efficiently manage customer concerns. These skills ensure high customer satisfaction, accurate service recommendations, and effective workflow in a dealership environment.

How does a Lexus Service Advisor typically collaborate with technicians and customers during the repair process?

A Lexus Service Advisor acts as the liaison between customers and the service team, ensuring a smooth and transparent repair process. They begin by discussing vehicle concerns with customers, then relay this information to technicians for accurate diagnostics. Throughout the repair, the advisor provides updates to customers, explains recommended services, and helps prioritize repairs based on urgency and budget. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills to balance customer satisfaction with efficient workflow in the service department.

Job description

The Opportunity

Are you a master of hospitality with a passion for precision? South County Lexus is seeking a high-performing Service Advisor to join our elite service team. We don’t just fix cars; we provide a world-class guest experience that aligns with the Lexus "Covenant"—treating every customer like a guest in our own home.

As the primary point of contact between our guests and our factory-trained technicians, you will be the face of our service department, ensuring every vehicle is maintained to the highest standards of safety and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consultative Service: Greet guests warmly, listen to their concerns, and provide expert recommendations for vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Workflow Management: Coordinate with the Shop Foreman and Technicians to provide accurate cost estimates and timelines.
  • Guest Advocacy: Maintain transparent, proactive communication via phone, text, and email throughout the service process.
  • Quality Control: Conduct final inspections of repair orders and explain all work performed to the guest upon delivery.
  • Brand Excellence: Consistently achieve high Customer Service Index (CSI) scores and contribute to the dealership’s reputation for excellence.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an automotive service advisory role. Experience with Lexus or Toyota systems (TIS/ADP/CDK) is a significant plus.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills; the ability to translate "mechanic speak" into clear, benefit-driven language for guests.
  • The "Lexus Standard": A professional appearance and a "Guest First" mindset.
  • Reliability: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including Saturdays.

Why South County Lexus?

  • Top-Tier Compensation: Competitive base plus a robust commission structure and performance bonuses.
  • Full Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) options.
  • Career Growth: Access to Lexus Certification programs and internal promotion opportunities.
  • Modern Facility: Work in a high-volume, state-of-the-art environment with a loyal South Orange County client base.
