Sands Anderson PC is seeking a Public Finance Attorney to join our Durham, North Carolina office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney interested in sophisticated public finance work within a collaborative, mid-size firm that balances high-level legal work with a supportive culture.

Sands Anderson is a longstanding, mid-size law firm serving clients across the Mid-Atlantic region. We advise government entities, authorities, and related organizations on a wide range of legal matters, delivering the personal service of a local firm with the depth and resources of a multi-practice platform. Our Durham office supports clients throughout North Carolina and works closely with colleagues across the firmโ€™s government and public finance practices.

The Public Finance Attorney will work with municipalities, counties, authorities, and other public entities on financing transactions and related matters. The position offers meaningful client interaction, substantive responsibility, and the opportunity to collaborate with experienced public finance attorneys.

Responsibilities
  • Represent public sector clients in a variety of public finance transactions, including general obligation bonds, revenue bonds, and other tax-advantaged financings
  • Serve as bond counsel, disclosure counsel, underwriterโ€™s counsel, or borrowerโ€™s counsel, as appropriate
  • Advise clients on North Carolina public finance law, tax matters, and related regulatory requirements
  • Draft and review bond documents, closing certifications, and transaction materials
  • Participate in client meetings and work collaboratively with bankers, financial advisors, and other professionals
  • Support business development efforts and contribute to long-term client relationships
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in North Carolina, or ability to obtain licensure promptly
  • Experience in public finance, municipal law, or government representation is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with state and local government financing structures and applicable tax considerations
  • Strong legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters effectively and work both independently and as part of a team
