Professionals in Legal Sales often encounter challenges such as navigating complex legal products, earning the trust of law firms or corporate clients, and differentiating their services in a competitive market. Relationship-building requires a deep understanding of both legal terminology and client business goals, as well as the ability to communicate value clearly. Success in this role often comes from staying current with industry trends and adopting a consultative sales approach to provide tailored solutions.

What are Legal Sales?

Legal sales refer to the profession of selling legal services or products, such as software, research tools, or legal solutions, to law firms, corporations, and other organizations. Professionals in legal sales act as liaisons between legal service providers and clients, understanding clients' needs and presenting tailored solutions. They often have a background in law, business, or sales, and may work for legal tech companies, legal publishers, or consulting firms. The role requires strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills to effectively convey the value of legal products or services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Legal Sales professional, and why are they important?

To thrive in Legal Sales, you need a strong understanding of legal services or products, business development experience, and preferably a background in law or sales. Familiarity with CRM systems, contract management software, and sales analytics tools is often required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, negotiation abilities, and the capacity to build trust with clients are crucial for success. These competencies help drive revenue growth, foster long-term client relationships, and ensure tailored legal solutions are effectively communicated and delivered.

Job description

Assistant Director of Client Relations (Sales)

High-Trust Sales Role | Warm Leads Only | Family Law

About The Ramage Law Group

The Ramage Law Group is a client-centered family law firm dedicated to helping families protect what matters most. We provide practical, thoughtful legal solutions with empathy, clarity, and integrity.

Our attorneys handle divorce, child custody and visitation, family violence, extended family rights, adoption, and prenuptial agreements. Because these matters are deeply personal, we prioritize solutions that keep decision-making in the hands of those who will live with the outcome, including collaborative law when appropriate.

We are a 24-person, growth-oriented firm that values professionalism, collaboration, and long-term relationships, with many clients returning or referring others based on the trust we build.

About the Role

We are seeking a high-performing, consultative professional to serve as our Assistant Director of Client Relations. This role sits at the intersection of client intake and sales, with full ownership of the consultation experience and the responsibility to convert qualified prospects into retained clients.

You will work exclusively with warm, inbound leads—individuals and families who have already reached out for help. Your role is to guide them through a thoughtful, informed decision-making process, clearly recommend next steps, and confidently secure their engagement with the firm.

This is not a transactional sales role. Success comes from building trust quickly, communicating with clarity, and helping clients feel confident in moving forward during emotionally sensitive situations. This role plays a direct and measurable impact on firm growth through consultation-to-retention conversion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead consultations with prospective clients and guide them through their legal options
  • Build trust quickly in emotionally sensitive and high-stakes situations
  • Clearly articulate the firm’s value, approach, and next steps
  • Confidently ask for commitment and convert qualified prospects into retained clients
  • Own consultation-to-retention conversion outcomes and performance metrics
  • Follow up consistently and professionally to increase conversion rates
  • Track pipeline activity and maintain accurate records
  • Collaborate with attorneys to ensure a seamless and high-quality client onboarding experience

Compensation includes:

  • Competitive base salary
  • Performance-based bonuses or commission tied to conversion
  • Strong earning upside for high performers

This is a performance-driven role where success is measured by consultation-to-retention conversion and overall contribution to firm growth.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success converting consultations into paying clients
  • Experience in consultative, high-trust B2C sales environments
  • Comfortable asking for commitment and guiding clients to a decision
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to navigate sensitive conversations
  • Strong accountability and ownership of results
  • Organized, disciplined, and consistent with follow-through
  • Integrity, honesty, and humility

Experience in legal services, professional services, financial services, or other high-trust client advisory roles is preferred, but not required.

If you are a disciplined, relationship-driven closer who takes pride in guiding people to confident decisions, this opportunity may be the right fit.

Company Description

We provide strategic, compassionate legal guidance rooted in clarity, integrity, and practical solutions, while building lasting client relationships founded on trust and care.
