We are seeking a Paralegal / Legal Office Support Specialist to join our team. This role will involve supporting legal counsel in litigation preparation, conducting legal research, drafting legal documentation, and coordinating legal administrative processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in legal research, document preparation, litigation support, and administrative coordination, along with a strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.


Job Title: Paralegal / Legal Office Support Specialist
Location: Indianapolis, IN (On-site)
Duration: 10 Months Contract

Job Description:

The Paralegal will serve as a professional staff member supporting Legal Counsel and the Legal Office by assisting in litigation preparation, research, documentation, and administrative coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist legal counsel in litigation preparation and case support.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, and codes.
  • Prepare legal documents including affidavits, briefs, pleadings, appeals, subpoenas, contracts, and notices.
  • Respond to discovery requests, interrogatories, admissions, and production requests.
  • Investigate facts and legal matters to determine causes of action and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate documentation related to subpoenas and discovery requests.
  • Maintain legal files, indexing, and document organization.
  • Prepare litigation lists and documentation for board reviews and hearings.
  • Process public records requests and expungement orders.
  • Maintain legal reference materials and ensure updates to legal volumes.
  • Serve as liaison with external legal entities and legislative contacts as required.
  • Track training records, continuing education scheduling, and administrative legal office operations.
  • Answer office communications and support daily legal office activities.
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of sensitive legal information.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Paralegal certification with at least 2 years of paralegal experience OR qualifying equivalent education/experience combination.
  • Basic computer proficiency and Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher).
  • Ability to manage confidential information and proofread documents accurately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with legal research platforms (LexisNexis and Westlaw).
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Paralegal Studies.
  • Paralegal competency certifications (PACE, CORE, CLA/CP, or equivalent).
  • Experience developing procedures and programs within a legal environment.
