Our client, a growing and highly respected law firm, is seeking an experienced Legal Bookkeeper (Trust Account Coordinator) to oversee the firm's trust accounting operations and settlement fund administration.

This is more than a bookkeeping position. You'll play a critical role in ensuring client funds are managed accurately, ethically, and in compliance with California State Bar requirements. Position Summary

The IOLTA Bookkeeper is responsible for managing attorney trust accounts, tracking settlement funds, coordinating client disbursements, reconciling financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with trust accounting regulations and firm policies.

Key Responsibilities

Trust Account Administration

·         Manage and reconcile the firm's IOLTA (Attorney Trust) accounts

·         Track incoming settlement funds and deposits

·         Verify settlement proceeds against case records and settlement agreements

·         Maintain accurate trust accounting records and supporting documentation

·         Ensure compliance with California State Bar trust accounting requirements

·         Assist with audits and account reviews

Settlement Fund Management

·         Track settlement proceeds from receipt through final disbursement

·         Review settlement binders and disbursement documentation

·         Coordinate timely client and vendor payments

·         Monitor settlement turnaround times and outstanding balances

Financial Reconciliation & Reporting

·         Reconcile trust account activity and settlement transactions

·         Investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting issues

·         Prepare financial reports for management

·         Track aging settlement funds and pending disbursements

·         Assist with forecasting and cash flow related to settlement activity

Qualifications

·         1-3 years of experience managing IOLTA or attorney trust accounts a must

·         Law firm accounting, legal bookkeeping, or settlement administration experience required

·         Experience in plaintiff-side litigation, personal injury, habitability, employment law, or similar legal environments preferred

·         Strong bookkeeping, accounting, and financial reconciliation skills

·         Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software

·         Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

·         Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and financial integrity
