Lighting Consultant

Location: 5000 Kansas Avenue Kansas City, KS 66106

Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG) and the Store Planning and Equipment Services (SDES) department are excited to announce the position for Lighting Consultant.  This position reports to the Director or Store Design and Equipement Services (SDES)  and supports the broader SDES team. This role provides an opportunity to grow into expanded responsibilities based on performance and demonstrated aptitude while assisting members in meeting their current and future retail and operational lighting needs.

 Responsibilities:

  •  The lighting sales manager is in charge of making lighting purchases on behalf of the AWG members and retail stores.
  •  Negotiating national accounts with all major lighting manufacturers.
  • Assessing and annually reassessing purchasing cost to insure the lowest possible prices to our AWG members.
  • Establishing and maintaining manufactures rebates.
  • Creating master standard specifications guidelines based on the current programs as approved by the Director.
  • Reviewing specifications standards with lighting engineers and preparing AWG member store plans.
  •  Estimating, proposing, ordering, acknowledging, tracking, and coordinating of all shipments to AWG stores or warehouse sites.
  • Coordinate and direct the activities of your support staff to create the lighting team.
  • Review all proposals, purchase orders, order acknowledgments, track and coordinate shipments of light fixtures.
  • Monitor project list and critical deadlines.
  • Meeting with AWG members to help coordinate their lighting needs, shipments and see approval for orders.
  • Traveling 65% of the time, WFH, Remote and Office required

Requirements:

  • 3-5 Years lighting sales or purchasing, lighting manufacture or lighting design 
  • Experience with Lighting Design Standard for retail environments including photometric requirements, lighting programs, Bluebeam and AutoCAD experience.
  • Associates degree minimum
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must pass drug test and background check
