Job Summary

Southern New Hampshire University seeks an enthusiastic and dependable student employee for the role of Study Away Operational Assistant. This position provides opportunities to develop professional skills while supporting Study Away initiatives and promoting domestic and international learning experiences to students.

The Operational Assistant supports Study Away staff by performing administrative, operational, and outreach project duties. During periods of reduced Study Away activity, the Operational Assistant may support other Academic Affairs programs and initiatives as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

Study Away Program Administration Support

  • Monitor and respond to routine Study Away inquiries, escalating questions as appropriate.

  • Track and log student interest and program participation data.

  • Maintain accurate records, databases, shared spreadsheets, forms, web content, and program documentation.

  • Assist with document preparation, data entry, filing, and other administrative activities.

  • Prepare and organize program materials for meetings, information sessions, events, and student-facing activities.

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Study Away program and related initiatives.

Study Away Student Outreach Support

  • Deliver presentations, after training from the Study Away Program Manager, and provide general information about Study Away opportunities.

  • Assist the Study Away Program Manager with information sessions, recruitment events, tabling activities, and other student engagement efforts.

  • Support event preparation, logistics, setup, and follow-up activities.

Marketing and Communications Support

  • Collaborate with the Study Away Program Manager to create marketing materials, flyers, and promotional content using Canva and other digital tools.

  • Assist with the preparation, updating, and distribution of marketing materials, communications, timelines, and promotional content.

  • Ensure information shared with students is accurate, current, and aligned with Study Away and university messaging.

Academic Affairs Support

  • During periods of reduced Study Away activity, provide administrative and operational support to other Academic Affairs programs and initiatives as assigned.

  • Assist with special projects, data collection, event support, and other departmental needs as directed.

General Responsibilities

  • Participate in regular supervisor meetings, training, and professional development activities.

  • Maintain professionalism, reliability, confidentiality, and effective communication in all aspects of the role.

  • Perform other duties as assigned while demonstrating adaptability.

Career Development Requirements

  • Participate in a mandatory, paid meeting with a Career Services advisor to build or refine a resume, highlighting skills developed through this role.

  • Engage in self-reflection during mid-semester check-ins with supervisors to discuss progress and set professional development goals.

  • Encouraged to attend campus career fairs to network and explore career opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment in an Undergraduate On-Campus degree program at Southern New Hampshire University.

  • Federal Work Study eligibility - only Work Study students will be considered.

  • Highly dependable with consistent attendance and punctuality as essential functions of the role.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse student groups and staff.

  • Self-motivated and receptive to feedback.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Proficient in using Canva, AI tools, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) to create, organize, and manage content effectively.

  • Comfortable speaking with students and presenting information to groups.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous participation in a Study Away Immersive Learning (SAIL) Program, Semester Abroad, Semester Away, or other experiential learning opportunity.
