Number of Positions: 1Position Overview
The Impact Coach will leverage instructional strategy, classroom teaching experience, and people-management skills to strengthen the development and performance of City Year Milwaukee's AmeriCorps members (ACMs) and Teaching Fellows. This role is pivotal in advancing student success, promoting educational equity, increasing educator diversity, and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality academic and social-emotional supports in schools.Job Description
Teaching Fellow Program Leadership & People Management (35%)
Direct Management and Development:
o Directly manage Teaching Fellows through regular one-on-one meetings, goal setting, performance feedback, and professional-development planning.
o Establish clear expectations for instructional practice, professional conduct, attendance, communication, and progress toward program and certification requirements.
o Use observation data, student outcomes, partner feedback, and performance trends to coach Teaching Fellows and address performance concerns promptly.
o Create individualized development plans that strengthen classroom management, lesson execution, culturally responsive teaching, and relationship-building with students.
Program Coordination and School Partnership:
o Coordinate Teaching Fellow placement, schedules, onboarding, training, and ongoing support in partnership with school leaders and internal staff.
o Maintain consistent communication with principals, cooperating teachers, university or certification partners, and City Year leaders regarding Fellow progress and program needs.
o Monitor completion of program requirements and elevate risks, barriers, or support needs to the appropriate internal and external partners.
o Develop systems and routines that promote a consistent, equitable, and high-quality Teaching Fellow experience.
Team Leader Learning & Development (30%)
Training Management and Execution:
o Partner with the Service & Learning Director to manage the day-to-day planning, coordination, and execution of monthly Team Leader learning and development sessions.
o Develop and maintain the annual Team Leader learning calendar, session plans, facilitator assignments, materials, logistics, and follow-up actions.
o Facilitate or co-facilitate monthly Team Leader training that builds leadership, people-management, instructional-support, and team-development skills.
o Ensure Team Leader learning experiences align with site priorities, the AmeriCorps member learning arc, and the expectations of the Team Leader role.
o Coordinate with Impact Managers and other facilitators to identify emerging Team Leader development needs and translate those needs into relevant training content.
o Manage attendance, participation, feedback, and completion data for Team Leader learning and development sessions.
o Collect and analyze participant feedback and performance trends to continuously improve the content, structure, and effectiveness of monthly training.
o Provide Team Leaders with practical tools, resources, and follow-up support to apply learning within their school teams.
o Support the Service & Learning Director in assessing Team Leader growth, identifying gaps, and recommending targeted coaching or additional development opportunities.
Lesson Planning & City Year-Endorsed Curriculum (15%)
Training, Planning, and Execution:
o Develop and deliver training on effective lesson planning, differentiation, culturally responsive instruction, and student engagement.
o Facilitate collaborative planning sessions and promote effective co-planning between ACMs, Teaching Fellows, and partner teachers.
o Guide participants in using assessment results, course performance, attendance, and behavior data to tailor lesson objectives and interventions.
Curriculum and Resource Implementation:
o Build mastery of City Year-endorsed curricula and support consistent, high-quality implementation.
o Create and maintain lesson templates, exemplars, intervention resources, and instructional materials.
o Support effective use of available instructional resources, including CommonLit, HMH, ST Math, MDIS, and other district- or school-approved tools.
o Collect and analyze implementation feedback and refine resources and training based on classroom experience and student outcomes.
AmeriCorps Learning & Leadership Development (10%)
Learning and Development:
o Lead or co-lead all-corps professional-development sessions through the lenses of Developmental Relationships, positive youth development, and holistic student support.
o Use observation and training data to identify learning needs, best practices, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
o Support Team Leader and second-year ACM leadership development through coaching, training, and role-specific resources.
o Serve as an additional mentor and instructional resource for AmeriCorps members and school-based leaders.
Data, Evaluation & Continuous Improvement (5%)
Performance Monitoring:
o Monitor student-level progress and performance data in collaboration with Impact Managers and the Impact & Analytics lead.
o Support Impact Managers and Teaching Fellows in translating data analysis into clear instructional next steps.
o Prepare concise reports on program progress, implementation challenges, achievements, and lessons learned.
o Use findings to recommend adjustments to training, coaching, curriculum, and program design.
Collaborative Site Priorities (5%)
Organizational Initiatives and Site Support:
o Support the management and development of site coordinator roles, including Math, ELA, Attendance, and Extended Learning Time.
o Participate in hiring and selection processes for AmeriCorps members, Teaching Fellows, and Impact staff as needed.
o Engage with stakeholders, participate in events and service days, and contribute to cross-departmental committees and site-wide goals.
o Complete other duties aligned with program quality, school partnership success, and organizational priorities.
