ABOUT THE ROLE

Concrete Strategies is seeking an experienced and strategically minded Business Development Leadย to lead key growth initiatives, drive major project pursuits, and deepen client relationships within targeted regions and sectors. This high-impact role is responsible for shaping market strategies, supporting major pursuit teams, and mentoring junior business development staff.

As a critical contributor to our commercial concrete growth strategy, this role partners closely with operations, estimating, and executive leadership to ensure consistent market positioning, value-driven client engagement, and revenue growth. This position is ideal for a seasoned business development professional with strong market instincts, deep industry relationships, and a passion for concrete construction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Market Strategy & Growth Execution

  • Lead business development efforts for large-scale, high-value concrete projects and strategic clients.
  • Develop and execute regional and sector-specific growth strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Track market intelligence, competitor activity, and client needs to identify emerging opportunities.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with developers, general contractors, architects, engineers, and other key influencers.
  • Serve as the face of Concrete Strategies in strategic meetings, networking events, and industry conferences.
  • Provide insight into client preferences and feedback to continuously improve service offerings and delivery approach.

Pursuit Leadership

  • Partner with estimating, preconstruction, and marketing to lead high-value pursuits, from early strategy through proposal and final presentation.
  • Serve as the strategic lead on major project bids and RFP responses.
  • Lead or participate in client interviews and contract negotiations.

Team Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, estimating, marketing, and leadership to ensure alignment of growth priorities.
  • Mentor and guide junior business development team members, supporting skill-building and accountability.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance culture across business units.

Reporting & CRM Management

  • Maintain detailed pursuit records, contacts, and project status updates within Salesforce or other CRM systems.
  • Provide regular reporting on pipeline health, win/loss trends, and pursuit activity to senior leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management, Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in business development, estimating, or project management within the commercial concrete or general construction industry
  • Proven track record of winning and growing business through relationships, strategy, and execution
  • Strong network of existing industry relationships with general contractors and developers
  • Familiarity with concrete systems including cast-in-place, precast, tilt-up, and structural concrete solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with high-level presentations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred)
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting pursuits of $10M+ concrete scopes
  • Prior team leadership or mentorship experience
  • Knowledge of industry associations and major events (AGC, ABC, ACI, etc.)
