Job description

Position Overview

The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and facilitation of training programs for current and newly hired employees at The Bank of Tampa. This role partners closely with business leaders and subject matter experts to translate directives and business needs into effective, engaging, and scalable learning solutions as part of the Training and Development Team. This role requires a self-directed professional who can develop and deliver training with limited oversight.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Design & Content Development

  • Independently designs, develops, and maintains instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning programs.
  • Translates high-level directives into structured training plans and learning materials.
  • Partners with subject matter experts and business partners to validate content accuracy and consistency.
  • Creates facilitator guides, participant materials, job aids, and e-learning content.
  • Maintains a centralized library of training materials.

Training Delivery & Facilitation

  • Facilitates classroom, virtual, and blended training sessions.
  • Leads systems and application training for new hires and bank initiatives.
  • Adapts facilitation style for various audiences and experience levels.

Learning Management & Administration

  • Administers training using LMS technology including scheduling and reporting.
  • Maintains accurate training records and compliance documentation.

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluates training effectiveness using feedback and performance metrics.
  • Refines training strategies based on results and stakeholder feedback.
  • Prepares reports and summaries on trainee outcomes, effectiveness, and areas of improvement.
  • Builds solid cross-functional relationships across all levels of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in Instructional Design or Learning & Development
  • 1 year of experience facilitating training in a professional setting
  • Proven ability to independently execute training from concept to delivery.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field
  • Professional certification in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, or Training Facilitation (e.g., ATD CPTD, APTD, Certified Instructional Designer, or equivalent).
  • 3+ years of experience in Instructional Design or Learning & Development
  • 2+ years of experience facilitating training in a professional setting
  • 2 years of banking experience in a frontline or operational role.
  • Experience with LMS platforms.
  • Knowledge of modern training methodologies.
  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools. (Articulate, I Spring, Adobe Premiere)
