Position Summary

The Food & Beverage Operations Assistant position with OVG at Santander Arena and Santander Performing Arts Center provides hands-on experience in the sports and entertainment industry while introducing career opportunities in hospitality, event management, food service operations, premium hospitality, and guest experience.

  • Administration & Operations - Event preparation, reporting, inventory management, and operational planning.
  • Concessions - Food and beverage service, stand operations, point-of-sale systems, and guest service.
  • Premium Hospitality - Suites, catering, special events, club spaces, and premium guest experiences.
  • Fan Experience - Guest engagement, service recovery, venue presentation, and hospitality initiatives.

This role pays an hourly rate of $17.00.

About the Venue

Santander Arena, located in downtown Reading, Pennsylvania, is a versatile venue that serves as the home arena for the Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. The Santander Arena has hosted an array of live events, including concerts, Disney on Ice, and other family-friendly events, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. 

Responsibilities
  • Support the Premium Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of all premium hospitality events, including suites, catering functions, club spaces, and special events at Santander Arena and Santander Performing Arts Center.

  • Assist with the management of suite rentals and catering orders, including menu distribution, order collection, event preparation, and client communication.

  • Coordinate premium event logistics by preparing event paperwork, suite manifests, catering reports, signage, credentials, and operational materials.

  • Conduct pre-event inspections of suites, premium spaces, and catering locations to ensure cleanliness, proper setup, and adherence to venue standards.

  • Assist with inventory management for premium hospitality operations, including product organization, stocking, tracking, and reconciliation.

  • Support event-day operations by acting as a liaison between culinary, concessions, warehouse, operations, and premium service teams to ensure successful event execution.

  • Assist with staffing coordination for premium events, including staff scheduling support, check-in procedures, uniform compliance, and event assignments.

  • Help oversee suite and premium area setup, ensuring food presentation, beverage service, and guest amenities meet OVG Hospitality standards.

  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding to guest requests, resolving service concerns, and creating memorable experiences for premium guests.

  • Support the administration and operation of the venue's Point of Sale (POS) systems, including menu maintenance, event setup, and troubleshooting as needed.

  • Prepare and maintain event records, sales reports, inventory documentation, and other administrative functions related to premium hospitality operations.

  • Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, guests, internal departments, and event staff.

  • Build and maintain knowledge of all food, beverage, premium hospitality, and event offerings to effectively support guests and clients.

  • Assist with special projects, departmental initiatives, and additional duties as assigned by venue leadership.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work in a high-energy and demanding environment.
  • Flexible to work extended hours, including late nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong organizational skills and highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain a professional and tidy appearance at all times.
  • Ability to communicate with team members, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner that focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment.
  • Must acquire and maintain a valid Health Food Handlers Card, Alcohol Awareness Certification, Cash Handling, and other required compliance trainings. 
  • Motivated individual interested in Sports & Entertainment Venue Hospitality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple assignments.
