About the Role:
As a Structural Designer EIT at PFL Engineering, you’ll start your career in a collaborative environment focused on production efficiency, constructability, and real-world application.   • Assist in Detailed Building Design: Support the design and analysis of foundations, framing systems, shear walls, and connections for concrete, steel, and wood structures.
  • Support Quality Assurance: Ensure designs meet company standards and comply with industry codes and local requirements.
  • Participate in Learning & Development: Engage in continuous learning and contribute to improving our internal standards and documentation.
  • Grow with the Team: Work alongside senior engineers and mentors to gain the knowledge and experience needed to advance into higher levels of responsibility.

As you grow in this role, you’ll advance through a defined professional path within the engineering discipline:

  • Engineering Designer (0–4 years): Support design and documentation under supervision; develop proficiency in Revit, coordination, and mechanical and plumbing calculations.
  • Project Engineer (4–10 years): Lead project execution, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior staff. Professional licensure is typically achieved before or early in this stage.
  • Engineer of Record (10+ years): Take ownership of design quality, compliance, and technical leadership for assigned projects. Advancement to this level is based on demonstrated capability, judgment, and readiness to assume greater responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Experience: 0 to 2 years of building design experience.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with Revit and Bluebeam, and structural analysis software (e.g., RISA, ETABS, or similar).
  • Code Knowledge: Basic understanding of structural design codes and standards, including the International Building Code (IBC), ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and NDS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Building Design: Experience with or interest in building design.
