Job Summary:
Bushnell University’s School of Nursing, located in Eugene, OR invites applications for full-time faculty to teach primarily in the University’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science Nursing (ABSN) pre-licensure program. This on-campus position has a negotiable start date.
This position will include:
- Working collaboratively within the Accelerated Baccalaureate pre-licensure nursing program.
- Development, implementation, and evaluation of the accelerated BSN curriculum.
- Full-time teaching, primarily in the Accelerated BSN pre-licensure program, and online courses in the RN to BSN as assigned.
- Working collaboratively with the Dean of Nursing, Director of Nursing and other nursing faculty to deliver high quality education to nursing students.
- Working collaboratively with University faculty, staff, and other departments across the campus.
- Participate in promotion of the Accelerated BSN and other nursing programs in the community, among the Bushnell student population and prospective students at on-campus and off-campus sponsored events.
- Support the missions of Bushnell University and School of Nursing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Specific to this Position: Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Commits to creating a safe learning culture for students inclusive of diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds.
- Provides instruction for clinical, skills lab, simulation, and/or didactic nursing theory courses as assigned.
- Supervises student clinical experiences in long-term care, acute care, specialty care areas, community health and/or other settings as assigned.
- Engages with students to provide a meaningful presence in their clinical learning and in their achievement of course outcomes in conjunction with facility primary nurses.
- Delivers current course content, in collaboration with the other faculty, that is informative, well organized and supports student learning and success in development of critical thinking and clinical judgment.
- Keeps professionally current by participating in professional development and other activities.
- Maintains current credentials, licensures and immunizations as required by the program and clinical agencies.
- Creates and maintains a positive learning environment that focuses on safety, respect of students, clients and colleagues, and effective communication, both verbally and in writing, utilizing tact, patience and courtesy, representative of professional nursing practice standards.
- Listening skills and the ability to speak and write clearly are essential to this position. Must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Models professional nursing practices and behaviors for students.
- Complies with all Oregon State Board of Nursing and Oregon Health Authority policies and administrative regulations.
- The position may require the ability to complete 12.5-hour nursing shifts in a supervisory capacity with clinical competence.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- All faculty assigned to a clinical position must undergo a urine drug screen
- Support the missions of Bushnell University and School of Nursing
- Works collaboratively with the Dean of College of Health Professions and Director of Nursing to schedule up to 16 hours/month of work release time to pursue advanced education and/or clinical practice opportunities that support current role and professional development.

- Maintain a full-time teaching load (or equivalent) as described in the Faculty Handbook and as assigned by your supervisor
- As a 'teacher-scholar' actively engage with students in collaborative research and learning activities.
- Provide a solid role model of wisdom, faith, and service.
- Maintain and post regular office hours as specified in the Faculty Handbook.
- Attend all regular and special faculty meetings, development sessions, employee chapel, commencement activities and nursing ceremonies and other items outlined in the faculty handbook.
- Serve on faculty committees, as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty within Faculty Handbook guidelines.
- Submit updated course syllabi each semester to the Director/Dean of Nursing for each course taught.
- Completed embedded course assessment and/or program assessment activities and attend department meetings associated with this activity.
- Facilitate the evaluation of each of your classes each semester and contribute to the evaluation of the curriculum and instruction, ensuring the delivery of quality academic programs.
- Contribute to the development of library resources in area of teaching expertise.
- Provide mentorship for students in the program.
- Follow the current Faculty Handbook and the School of Nursing's Faculty Manual as it pertains to faculty roles and responsibilities.
- Interact with the Registrar's office in transcript evaluation and recording of student progress, as required.
- Actively participate in marketing of the programs as well as forming partnerships with colleagues and students where appropriate.
- Contribute to the integration of faith and learning by addressing this issue in class and in curriculum standards.
- Fulfill any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Earned nursing graduate degree (terminal degree preferred).
- Minimum of three years nursing clinical practice experience.
- Experience as a nurse educator and/or possess experience teaching accelerated baccalaureate nursing students is preferred.
- Eligible for and maintain or possess an active, unencumbered Oregon RN license.
- For other state boards of nursing where a nursing license is held, this license must also remain unencumbered.
- Must be actively engaged in a Christian congregation and able to identify with and support the Bushnell Theological Context for Community statement.
- Listening skills and the ability to speak and write clearly.
- Ability to utilize Windows based software including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint (MS Office suite of products). Experience utilizing e-mail for the purposes of organizational communications.
- Preferred experience with learning management system(s) (e.g. Canvas).
- Bushnell employees must have a maturing Christian faith and live in compliance with the duties and expectations as detailed in the Employee Handbook.
