Job description

Lean Manufacturing Supervisor - Marine Engines

Step into a leadership role at the heart of our marine engine production operation. In this fast-paced and highly visible role, you will own the day-to-day performance of our marine engine value stream: leading teams, driving results, and ensuring world-class quality in every inboard and outboard motor we build. In this role, you'll combine hands-on leadership with lean manufacturing expertise to improve flow, reduce waste, and elevate safety, productivity, and quality. You'll coach and develop team members, solve real-time production challenges, and create visibility from raw materials to finished power units. If you're energized by fast-paced manufacturing, continuous improvement, and building high-performing teams, this is your opportunity to make a visible impact. You won't just manage production, you'll shape how marine engines are built. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership:
    • Oversee day-to-day production activities for our marine engine production team
    • Ensure production schedules, takt time targets, and customer delivery requirements are consistently met.
    • Maintain real-time visibility of work-in-process, bottlenecks, and throughput.
  • Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify and lead kaizen events, root-cause problem solving, and waste-reduction initiatives.
    • Implement and sustain lean tools such as 5S, standard work, visual management, and value stream mapping.
    • Monitor KPIs and drive actions to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Supervise, coach, and develop production team members.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and support skill-building and cross-training.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Quality & Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Address non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
    • Promote a zero-defect mindset and safe work environment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Quality to resolve issues and optimize flow.
    • Participate in planning meetings to align capacity, staffing, and material needs.
    • Communicate production status, risks, and improvement opportunities to leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Automotive, Mechanical Engineering or similar
    • Experience in manufacturing supervision or team leadership.
    • Strong understanding of internal combustion engines: how they work, components
    • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
    • Ability to lead teams and manage performance.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Preferred:
    • Background in automotive, aerospace, industrial, or low-volume/high-complexity manufacturing.
    • Experience with value stream mapping or managing end-to-end production flow.
    • Lean or Six Sigma certifications.
