Job description

Cabell Huntington Hospital seeks a full-time Staff Development Instructor to work in our Clinical Training and Development department.
The Staff Development Instructor is responsible for assessing, developing, and delivering education to health care staff to support competency development. This role ensures the implementation of evidence-based practices that promote safe, high quality patient care.
Responsibilities include planning and facilitating orientation, skills training, and continuing education. The instructor integrates principles of human development across the lifespan into educational activities and contributes to policy and program development.
The Staff Development Instructor is accountable for meeting assigned deadlines, maintaining compliance metrics, and supporting organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Bachelors Degree of Nursing required
  • Masters Degree of Nursing Preferred
  • Current WV RN license required
  • CPR / BLS required
  • BLS Instructor within a year of hire required
  • ACLS required
  • ACLS Instructor within a year of hire required
  • PALS required
  • PALS Instructor within a year of hire required
  • ANCC Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD) or specialty certification preferred
  • Regional Faculty in PALS and ACLS preferred
  • 2 years of position-related experience required, 5+ years preferred.

Position-related experience includes:
  • Recent clinical nursing experience in a critical care and/or medical surgical setting is required.
  • Pediatric setting experience is preferred.
  • Woman setting experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrates organizational, communication, leadership, time management and critical thinking skills.
  • Maintains a desire to teach, train and develop health care personnel.
  • Requires a high degree of initiative, planning, implementing and evaluating educational activities.
  • Must apply effective teaching and facilitate skills.
  • Independently plans, coordinates, and delivers educational sessions with minimal supervision.
  • Will require effective communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Must deliver classroom and/or clinical instructions.
  • Must meet performance expectations related to education delivery, competency validation and professional conduct as outlines in the annual performance evaluation.
  • Currently and consistently maintains compliance of all required checklist competencies, educational assignments, annual education within the timeframe.
