What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Lead Voice, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lead Voice, you need advanced vocal technique, strong musicality, and often formal training in voice or music performance. Familiarity with vocal recording equipment, audio editing software, and sometimes sight-reading or music notation systems is important. Outstanding communication, stage presence, and the ability to collaborate with other performers or directors are crucial soft skills. These abilities ensure high-quality vocal performances, effective teamwork, and adaptability in diverse musical or production settings.

What is a Lead Voice?

A Lead Voice is typically the primary singer or voice actor who carries the main vocal part in a song, animation, video game, or other audio production. In music, the Lead Voice delivers the melody and lyrics, often standing out from backup singers or harmonies. In voice acting, the Lead Voice portrays the main character, guiding the story and engaging the audience. This role requires strong vocal skills, clear enunciation, and the ability to convey emotion effectively, making it a central part of any performance.

What are some common challenges faced by a Lead Voice in managing a voice-over team, and how can these be addressed?

As a Lead Voice, one of the main challenges is ensuring consistent vocal quality and style across multiple voice talents, especially when working on collaborative projects. Balancing creative direction with individual performers’ strengths requires clear communication and constructive feedback. Additionally, coordinating recording schedules and managing tight deadlines can be demanding. These challenges can be addressed by fostering a supportive team environment, setting clear guidelines, and using collaborative tools to streamline communication and project management.

Job description

Private Voice Instructor - Swain Campus

At Moravian Academy's Swain Campus, great teaching is celebrated, students arrive eager to learn, and the arts are woven into everything we do. If you're a passionate vocalist and educator who loves building real relationships with young singers, this is a role worth exploring.

As our Private Voice Instructor, you'll teach 30-minute private lessons to students across a range of ages, voice types, and experience levels - from a third-grader discovering their voice for the very first time to a middle schooler polishing an audition piece. Every lesson is a chance to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and model what it means to be a lifelong learner.

You'll be part of a warm, collaborative fine arts community where coordinators are accessible, colleagues are supportive, and families are genuine partners in their children's growth. MA employees engage in community, strive for excellence, and lead by example - and you'll feel that culture the moment you walk in the door.

In addition to a competitive per-lesson rate, this role offers the deep satisfaction of watching your students perform, grow, and take ownership of their musical journey. Professional development opportunities and a school community that genuinely invests in its people make Moravian Academy a place where educators thrive.
