The ESSM portfolio is hiring a Principal Lead System Engineer (LSE) to join the leadership of the Development and/or Production programs. The ESSM LSE will be responsible for the identifying and technical execution of projects across Raytheon ESSM and supporting the Chief Engineer (CE) in helping define and maintain the appropriate level of technical rigor and coordination across functions and engineering disciplines across the various efforts within the program. The LSE is also one of the senior technical interfaces with internal and external customers, industry partners, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have leadership experience leading multiple project teams of varying size and scope. The candidate will also need to demonstrate multidiscipline engineering knowledge as well as development and production lifecycle understanding. The LSE is expected to provide technical and career mentorship and apprenticeship opportunities to program engineers. Role includes understanding of both missile and integration/launcher aspects, with expectation to work with the launcher team located on the Portsmouth, RI to coordinate development, integration and sustainment activities.
What You Will Do
  • Work across leadership, engineering and shared services to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
  • Coordinate efforts across multiple disciplines and program efforts, to include coordination with external customer entities
  • You will interpret missile, launcher, and other combat system requirements and objectives into actionable direction to the program and supplier teams to maintain a balance of margin and producibility
  • You will provide program leadership to the Cross Product Teams and Integrated Product Teams and many collaborative partners from Engineering, Operations, Mission Assurance, and Global Supply Chain
  • Maintain positive employee and team experiences by creating an environment that supports positive team health as well as providing guidance and management to ensure goals are met

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 8 years of prior engineering experience.
  • Leadership experience of large and diverse cross-functional teams across the development and transition to production lifecycle: system design, requirements development, management, and verification, system integration and test, and production of complex system architectures
  • Experience developing work plans and driving program/team execution
  • Experience working with leaders and customer community stakeholders to influence and guide the development of production program projects

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Ability to develop a fault tree and knowledge point plan
  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in Digital Engineering, Model Based Systems Engineering or other model-based tools to capture systems and processes
  • Experience in development and production programs
  • Demonstrated experience in shipboard missile system architectures and products
  • Communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • History developing others through teaching, mentorship, and apprenticeship
  • Raytheon Level 4 Certified Lead System Engineer or participant in the Lead System Engineer Development Program (LSEDP)
  • The ability to receive multiple Special Access Program (SAP) clearances to support the program is desired. This can be demonstrated by current or prior clearances to SAPs

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
