Job description

Low Voltage Lead / C-7 Qualifier - Public Safety Systems
Definitive Networks, Inc. (DNI) - Pleasanton, CA
Pay: $55-$70/hour, full-time W-2, non-exempt, with overtime where applicable. Final compensation depends on experience, license status, project leadership background, and fit for the role.
DNI is a managed service provider that has worked exclusively with Bay Area fire departments, EMS agencies, and 911 dispatch centers since 1998. We're expanding into low voltage cabling to better serve our public safety clients end-to-end, and we're hiring an experienced C-7 licensed Lead Technician to help build and run that practice with us.
This role is intended to serve as DNI's C-7 qualifying individual/RME while also leading field execution, standards, documentation, and crew supervision for low-voltage work.
This is a hands-on role. You'll spec, pull, terminate, test, and certify cabling at fire stations, PSAPs, and apparatus bays across the Bay Area - and you'll be the senior voice on site when we put a crew on a job.
What you'll do
Lead structured cabling installs (Cat6/6A, fiber, racks, pathways) at client sites across the Bay Area
Install and integrate non-fire-alarm station alerting systems and related public-safety low-voltage equipment; coordinate with properly licensed partners where required
Read plans, scope projects, pull permits where required, and coordinate with GCs, electricians, and AHJs
Supervise junior techs and subcontracted labor on larger jobs
Test, certify, and document every install to a standard that holds up under client and inspector review
Partner with DNI's infrastructure, platform, and project teams on integrated network + cabling deployments
Help establish DNI's low-voltage standards, tooling, documentation, estimating practices, and field workflows
Requirements
Active California C-7 Low Voltage Systems license in good standing, with eligibility and willingness to serve as DNI's Responsible Managing Employee (RME) / qualifying individual for C-7 low-voltage operations
4+ years of hands-on field experience in structured cabling and low voltage
Solid fiber and copper termination skills; comfortable with Fluke or equivalent certification testers
Experience reading construction drawings and working on commercial / institutional sites
Valid California driver's license and ability to meet company vehicle-insurance requirements
Employment is subject to a job-related background check after a conditional offer; DNI considers qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with the California Fair Chance Act
Public safety, station alerting, or government contracting experience is a strong plus
Benefits
Full-time W-2 position with a stable public-safety technology company
Company truck/van, tools, and PPE
Medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and holidays
401(k)
HQ in Pleasanton; field work across northern California
A clear path to help build and lead DNI's low-voltage practice with leadership support behind you
